Description
We're looking for a QA Manager to lead the daily execution of quality assurance across our cultivation, post-harvest, and warehouse operations. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this role makes sure quality checks actually happen at the point of work, that they mean the same thing at every site, and that what they find is recorded, routed, and resolved.
The QA Manager will directly own in-process quality execution across all sites, the standard of work and consistency of method for the site QA teams, and the intake of deviations, nonconformances, and customer complaints - investigating at the point of occurrence and routing verified issues into corrective action.
This is a builder role: you will set how quality assurance operates on the floor, provide functional direction to the Operations Coordinators and QA Specialists across our sites, and grow into direct leadership of the site QA organization as the department expands. The responsibilities below capture the core of this role, but as Glass House Brands grows quickly, your scope may evolve to match new opportunities and business needs.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in agriculture, life sciences, food science, quality management, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in quality assurance within cultivation, food, agricultural, or another regulated production environment.
• At least 2 years leading or coordinating a quality team across multiple shifts or sites.
• Demonstrated experience running in-process quality checks in a live production environment, not only reviewing records after the fact.
• Working knowledge of deviation and nonconformance handling, and of how findings feed a corrective action process.
• Practical experience building quality reporting from production data.
• Experience in cannabis cultivation or post-harvest, or with GACP, GMP, or HACCP requirements, preferred.
• Conversational Spanish a plus.
• Valid California driver's license and the ability to travel regularly between our Camarillo and Carpinteria sites.
• Ability to work in greenhouse and post-harvest environments, including heat, humidity, and extended periods of standing and walking, with required personal protective equipment.
Skills:
• Strong on-floor presence, with credibility among production supervisors and hourly teams.
• Able to make a clear, defensible call quickly with incomplete information, and to recognize when the call is not theirs to make.
• Strong coaching skills, particularly with newly hired QA staff.
• Clear written communication for deviation records, investigations, and quality reporting.
• Analytical skill to see a pattern across sites rather than treating each event as isolated.
• Organized enough to run one consistent program across multiple sites and shifts.
• Able to direct work and set standards for people who do not report to this role directly.
Personal Attributes:
• Direct and fair when raising a problem.
• High integrity in what gets recorded, including when the record is unwelcome.
• Calm and decisive under production pressure.
• Genuinely collaborative - treats quality as something built with operations rather than imposed on it.
