Full Job Description
QA Engineer-

QA Engineer will support a multi-year construction project involving significant civil, mechanical, and electrical construction, including grading, storm drainage, demolition, earthwork, ductbanks, firewater, service water, process piping, electrical systems, and associated site infrastructure.

Duties:

  • Perform Quality Assurance activities supporting implementation of the project Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Verify project activities comply with applicable ASME NQA-1 requirements, DOE Order 414.1D, approved procedures, contractual requirements, and project quality requirements.
  • Perform quality surveillances, assessments, and compliance reviews of construction and other quality-affecting project activities.
  • Assist with internal, client, DOE, and external audits, including preparation and collection of objective evidence and follow-up of identified findings.
  • Review quality records, inspection documentation, work packages, and other project documentation for compliance with established requirements.
  • Identify quality issues, procedural deficiencies, and Conditions Adverse to Quality (CAQs) and ensure they are appropriately documented and communicated.
  • Support Nonconformance Reports (NCRs), Corrective Action Reports (CARs), corrective actions, and resolution of quality issues.
  • Support development and revision of quality procedures, instructions, and other QMS documents.
  • Verify implementation of approved quality procedures and processes through field observations and documentation reviews.
  • Support personnel qualification, certification, indoctrination, and training record requirements associated with quality-affecting activities.
  • Assist with quality metrics, trending, audit findings, corrective action status, and management review information.
  • Coordinate QA activities with Quality Control, Construction, Engineering, Procurement, Document Control, subcontractors, and other project personnel.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, traceable, and auditable quality records.


Skills/Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of Quality Assurance, Quality Control, construction quality, or related experience supporting industrial, DOE, nuclear, or other highly regulated work.
  • Working knowledge of ASME NQA-1 quality requirements and DOE Order 414.1D.
  • Experience working within a formal Quality Assurance Program or Quality Management System.
  • Experience performing or supporting quality surveillances, assessments, audits, inspections, or compliance reviews.
  • Knowledge of NCRs, corrective actions, quality records, and document control requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret procedures, specifications, technical requirements, and quality program documents.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quality, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field.
  • NQA-1 Auditor or Lead Auditor certification.
  • Previous DOE, nuclear, or highly regulated construction experience.
  • Experience with ASME NQA-1-2019.
  • Experience with CAQs/SCAQs, root cause analysis, corrective action, and quality trending.
  • Previous experience in a QA Engineer, Quality Engineer, QA Specialist, Quality Specialist, Quality Professional, or similar role.
  • Previous Savannah River Site or other DOE site experience.
