Job OverviewWe are seeking an experienced QA Automation Engineer to support a high-priority initiative focused on designing, evaluating, and implementing a scalable test automation framework. The initial emphasis will be automation for Windows desktop/UI applications, with planned expansion into web application testing, performance testing, test management integrations, and CI/CD workflows.
This role requires a hands-on automation professional who can combine strong QA fundamentals with technical framework expertise. Candidates most likely to secure an interview will have demonstrated experience building or implementing Windows UI automation frameworks, developing automated test suites, and working with languages such as C#, .NET, JavaScript, Python, or PowerShell.
Must Haves - Strong experience designing, implementing, supporting, or enhancing QA automation frameworks, particularly for Windows UI applications.
- Hands-on experience developing automated tests for Windows desktop and web-based applications.
- Strong knowledge of QA methodologies, test strategies, automation standards, metrics, and software testing best practices.
- Programming or scripting experience using technologies such as C#, .NET, JavaScript, Python, or PowerShell.
- Experience testing SaaS or cloud-hosted applications, including an understanding of the underlying application and infrastructure environments.
- Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL, including the ability to develop queries for testing and data validation.
- Experience working with a major cloud platform such as AWS or Azure.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across engineering teams, mentor QA professionals, document standards, and promote automation adoption.
What the Client Needs You to Do The successful candidate will help establish the technical foundation for a sustainable QA automation program. You will partner with QA, application engineering, product, and other stakeholders to assess automation technologies, define framework architecture, establish development standards, and create reliable automated test suites.
A major objective will be to introduce a modular framework that improves test execution speed, coverage, maintainability, reporting, and overall QA efficiency. You will also help establish a roadmap for expanding automation beyond Windows applications into web UI, load/performance testing, and broader testing workflows.
Key Responsibilities - Define the automation technology stack, infrastructure requirements, testing methodology, and technical requirements needed to support a scalable framework.
- Evaluate automation platforms, tools, libraries, and architectural approaches through proof-of-concept development, technical assessments, and return-on-investment analysis.
- Design and establish reusable framework capabilities, including object repositories, logging, reporting, configuration management, test data handling, and test case management integrations.
- Develop maintainable functional, regression, and smoke automation suites for Windows applications while creating an extensible architecture for web application coverage.
- Implement parallel test execution and other optimization techniques to improve automation speed, reliability, repeatability, and stability.
- Establish coding standards, automation adoption criteria, error-handling approaches, deterministic test data practices, and environment controls.
- Integrate automated testing with applicable CI/CD pipelines, defect or test management platforms, reporting systems, and artifact repositories.
- Automate test results and metrics to provide stakeholders with timely, actionable information regarding application quality, execution status, failures, and coverage.
- Partner with developers, QA analysts, product owners, and technical stakeholders to establish testable requirements, acceptance criteria, risk-based coverage, and automation priorities.
- Extend automation capabilities into web UI technologies such as Selenium and contribute to assessments of tools for web load and performance testing.
Additional Information This position will play an important role in advancing QA maturity and introducing continuous improvements across the software testing lifecycle. The successful candidate should be comfortable operating as both a hands-on automation engineer and a technical advisor who can influence testing standards and technology decisions.
Experience with ERP or other complex enterprise applications is beneficial. Exposure to specialized scheduling, workforce, transportation, logistics, or operations-management platforms is also considered an advantage.
The role includes creating technical documentation, implementation examples, framework standards, and onboarding materials. You will be expected to conduct knowledge-transfer sessions, support QA engineers as they adopt new automation capabilities, and mentor team members on effective test design and development practices.
