Full Job Description
Job Summary:

The Pulsed Power Engineer is responsible for driving project delivery overseeing the full lifecycle of Pulsed Power products and solutions-from concept through development, enhancement, testing, and support-ensuring they meet performance, reliability, cost, and compliance standards.

The role involves working with high-voltage equipment, energy storage components (capacitors, pulse-forming networks), switching technologies (spark gaps, solid-state switches), and electromagnetic systems. The engineer is responsible for ensuring performance, reliability, and safety of pulsed power systems under demanding conditions.

You will work closely with internal teams and external partners to define technical needs, troubleshoot design challenges, and ensure quality through structured testing and risk management.

Key Accountabilities:

Product Development and Technical Innovation
  • Work with internal and external key stakeholders to define specifications and scope of requirements for related projects and solutions
  • Identify opportunities for improvement/enhancement to current product design
  • Lead/participate with failure/RCA investigations
  • Design and deliver timely, cost-effective solutions with a focus on functionality and reliability supported by comprehensive testing and validation practices
  • Specify, procure, and evaluate new components or technology to be applied or integrated into existing products and solutions
  • Collect, analyze, interpret, and present field and bench testing data


Cross-Functional Collaboration - Technical/Customer Support
  • Provide technical support to both internal and external customers (eg training and troubleshooting)
  • Support the sales and life cycle of BlueSpark® product and solution offerings in collaboration with all levels and departments to capture user needs, identify challenges, and implement improvements


Documentation, Compliance & Industry Engagement
  • Create, review, revise and maintain all required documentation, specifications, and schematics to ensure accuracy and compliance with quality management systems (QMS)
  • Develop and maintain technical knowledge by monitoring relevant and emerging technologies and trends and through participation in key industry events/conferences/committees


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or related field (PhD preferred)
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in pulsed power, high-voltage, or power electronics systems
  • Experience in high-voltage systems (kV), fast transients, and extreme dI/dt / dV/dt environments
  • Knowledge of pulsed power components: capacitors, high-voltage converters, spark gaps, solid-state switches
  • Strong background in insulation coordination and dielectric materials
  • Proficiency in simulation tools (SPICE, MATLAB, CST, PLECS, PSIM, COMSOL, or equivalent)
  • Experience with fast electrical diagnostics and data acquisition systems
  • Working knowledge of relevant standards and regulations (IEEE, ANSI, CSA, NEC)
  • Intermediate+ proficiency with technical and collaboration tools (Microsoft 365, SharePoint)
  • Experience in tool design and development for downhole/high-temperature environments
  • Python programming skills
