Located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, Legacy Health is currently seeking an experiencedPulmonary / CriticalCare physician to join our group.

Responsibilities

Clinical:

Provides consultation services for patients with pulmonary diseases who are hospitalized at a Legacy hospital or are referred by their primary physician for outpatient consultation.

Responds promptly in writing to referral source with clinical findings and suggested plan of care.

Provides telephone consultative services for patients with pulmonary diseases throughout Oregon and the region.

Provides continuous coverage for the Pulmonary Services together with the other pulmonology specialists at assigned Legacy Hospital.

Development of consultative asthma clinic, chronic lung disease clinic and follow-up clinics, as requested.

Administrative:

Shares responsibility with colleagues for respiratory therapy practices on all Legacy inpatients.

Collaborates with colleagues and other staff to develop policies and procedures for respiratory care throughout Legacy Health.

Participates in quality assurance and continuous improvement in respiratory and ventilatory care of Hospital inpatients.

Advises the Legacy Supply and Equipment Council on new technology that pertains to respiratory care/specialized pulmonary care.

Advises the Legacy Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee on pulmonary medications including formulary recommendations, restrictions, utilization, and monitoring of adverse reactions.

Participates regularly in the teaching activities of the Inpatient Medicine Department, including resident and student education and outreach continuing medical education as assigned.

Participate in marketing/outreach for pulmonary program as requested.

Inpatient Duties:

Serves as Attending Physician as requested by Medical Director Pulmonary Medicine.

Serves as attending of record on assigned patients, or subspecialty consultant on patients as requested by members of the medical staff.

Assists private practice physicians in using hospital services in an efficient and cost-effective manner with their hospitalized patients.

Participates in education, training, and evaluation of house staff, medical students, and hospital personnel who have direct patient care responsibilities on the inpatient departments.

Serves on department, hospital and Legacy Health committees as requested.

Performs clinical responsibilities at assigned Legacy hospitals.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will have the following education and experience:

  • Graduate of four-year U.S. medical school or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited residency program and fellowships in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.
  • Board certified or eligible in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.
  • Candidates with experience in neurocritical care, ECMO, advanced cardiac care including mechanical support or an interest in nocturnal critical care coverage are especially encouraged to apply.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in the outpatient care of patients who are chronically ventilator-dependent and those with neuromuscular diseases.
  • Primary location will be Legacy Emanuel Hospital though this position also includes suburban shifts
Licensure
  • Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the applicable state.
  • Active member in good standing of Hospital Medical Staff.
  • BLS certification minimally required (ACLS preferred and substitutes for BLS).
