Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Pulmonologist, you will join our dedicated team at CommonSpirit Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, TN and Ringgold, GA. This exceptional opportunity allows you to provide comprehensive patient care within a regional healthcare leader, consistently recognized as the #1 Best Regional Hospital in the Chattanooga area by U.S. News & World Report for the 11th consecutive year (and ranked among the top hospitals in Tennessee, No. 4), and holding a consistent 'A' Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group.

Every day you will diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic respiratory system illnesses, such as asthma, COPD, pneumonia, etc. You will be pivotal in evaluating, diagnosing, and treating a wide range of pulmonary and cardiopulmonary disorders. Your expertise will be crucial in performing diagnostic tests, creating tailored treatment plans, providing critical care when needed, and empowering patients through comprehensive education within a faith-based, not-for-profit organization committed to the healing ministry.

To be successful in this role, you will be a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Pulmonologist with a passion for managing complex respiratory conditions and a commitment to clinical excellence.

  • Evaluating, diagnosing, and treating a wide spectrum of disorders affecting the lungs and cardiopulmonary system, including asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease, and pulmonary hypertension.
  • Conducting, ordering, and interpreting essential diagnostic tests, such as spirometry, lung function tests, chest X-rays, and advanced imaging studies.
  • Performing specialized procedures, including bronchoscopy, thoracentesis, etc.
  • Developing individualized treatment plans, prescribing appropriate medications, and providing long-term care management to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Collaborating effectively with primary care physicians, oncologists, surgeons, and other specialists, and providing expert pulmonary consultations.
  • Educating patients comprehensively on disease self-management, crucial lifestyle changes, and smoking cessation strategies to promote overall respiratory health.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely electronic medical records, ensuring thorough documentation of all patient encounters.
  • Adhering to all hospital policies, procedures, and patient safety protocols.
