JOB SUMMARY
Delivers primary healthcare to patients; performs other work as required or assigned. This is an Advanced Working/Journey position, which works under general supervision. Positions at this level are assigned to perform the more complex and sensitive duties in the occupational field. The employee in this position may be assigned to train other employees and/or monitor the work produced by other employees. The employee performs diverse duties of an advanced and specialized nature. Judgment must be exercised in analyzing facts or circumstances surrounding issues. Work often requires development of recommendations and independent actions consistent with policies, general directives, and broad regulations. The decisions made affect the operations of the work unit and the organization. Discretion is required in the application of policies, procedures, and guidelines, and in selection of appropriate resources for use in accomplishing assigned work.

This position is not covered under the Pinal County Merit System. Incumbents in this position serve at the pleasure of their respective Appointing Authority. The employment relationship of incumbents in this position is "at will" the employee may be terminated at any time, for any reason, with or without cause. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK

  • Master's degree from a Nurse Practitioner Program.
  • One (1) year of nurse practitioner experience in public health programs.
  • State licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience may substitute for the minimum requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Arizona residents must have an Arizona Driver's License upon hire; newly established Arizona Residents must have one within 30 days of hire.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of policies, guidelines, and standards of the Arizona State Board of Nursing and Nurse Practice Act.
  • Knowledge of applicable Arizona Revised Statutes and County Ordinances regarding public health. Knowledge of Federal and state public health program regulations and requirements including Arizona Department of Health Services and Federal Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines, procedures, and standards.
  • Knowledge of regional public health protocols, communicable disease issues, and reporting standards.
  • Knowledge of regional community service agencies and other public assistance programs.
  • Skill in operating a computer utilizing standard and specialized software.
  • Ability to efficiently utilize the Electronic Health Record (EHR) platform to document patient care, enter computerized provider orders (labs/imaging), and capture medical billing.
  • Ability to provide full-scope reproductive health services: contraceptive management, sexually transmitted disease diagnosis/treatment, pregnancy testing and counseling, and breast/cervical cancer screenings.
  • Ability to provide effective nursing services and properly using medical instruments and laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to assess community needs and identify public health issues and trends.
  • Ability to use courtesy and respect in providing nursing services and responding appropriately to emergency situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The work is sedentary and requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. The work also requires the ability to finger, handle, reach, perform repetitive motion, kneel, lift, speak, hear, stoop, walk, operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment, and demonstrate visual and mental acuity.

The hiring salary for this position is dependent upon experience, qualifications and position funding; starting salaries above the midpoint require additional approval.
