What You'll Be Doing
The Inpatient Psychiatrist is responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric care to adult patients in an inpatient setting, including patients with severe mental illness, psychiatric emergencies, substance use disorders, and those requiring involuntary treatment. The position provides clinical leadership within a multidisciplinary team and requires strong clinical judgment, knowledge of applicable legal and regulatory requirements, and a commitment to patient-centered care and safety.
Clinical Experience
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience treating patients in an inpatient psychiatric setting, with preference for experience in acute and involuntary psychiatric care.
Demonstrated expertise in the assessment and treatment of severe mental illness, including psychotic disorders, mood disorders, substance use disorders, and psychiatric emergencies.
Proficiency in risk assessment, including evaluation of suicide risk, violence risk, and grave disability.

Experience providing clinical testimony and participating in commitment hearings, as applicable.
Ability to ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards while maintaining patient and staff safety.
Preferred Qualifications
Fellowship training in emergency psychiatry, or related subspecialty.
Prior experience serving as a Unit Chief, or attending psychiatrist in an involuntary psychiatric setting.
Experience with quality improvement, utilization management, and psychiatric program development.
What We're Looking For
Education and Licensing Requirements
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
Completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency program.
Board certification or board eligibility in Psychiatry.
Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of New Jersey, or eligibility for New Jersey licensure.
Must meet applicable hospital credentialing and privileging requirements.
