Job Description:
Join a dedicated and mission-driven team providing critical mental health services in the heart of the Midwest. The Lincoln Regional Center (LRC) is a Joint Commission-accredited state psychiatric hospital offering inpatient and residential services for adults with complex mental health needs. As a Psychiatrist at LRC, you will play a vital role in delivering compassionate, evidence-based care while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team committed to improving outcomes for individuals experiencing serious mental illness.

As a General or Forensic Psychiatrist, you will provide expert psychiatric care to adult patients within Nebraska's state behavioral health system. You will work closely with clinicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams to assess, diagnose, and treat individuals with complex psychiatric conditions. This role offers the opportunity to practice meaningful medicine while contributing to the care and recovery of some of Nebraska's most vulnerable individuals.

Examples of work:

General Psychiatrist
  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments to develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide medication management and therapeutic interventions for individuals with serious mental illness.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including psychologists, nurses, social workers, and other clinical staff to deliver coordinated patient care.
  • Participate in treatment planning meetings, peer consultation, and case reviews to ensure high-quality care and clinical accountability.


Forensic Psychiatrist
  • Conduct specialized forensic psychiatric evaluations and prepare reports for courts and other entities regarding issues such as competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility, and risk assessment.
  • Perform evaluations related to civil commitment and other forensic mental health matters.
  • Provide consultation regarding the psychiatric status and treatment needs of forensic patients.
  • Collaborate with clinicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to support patient treatment and safety.
  • Participate in treatment planning, peer consultation, and case review activities.


Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

General Psychiatrist: M.D. degree and license to practice medicine in Nebraska. Completed an ACGME approved Psychiatric residency program and board-certified or board-eligible in psychiatry.

Forensic Psychiatrist: Must have completed an ACGME accredited forensic psychiatry fellowship and be board-eligible or board-certified in forensic psychiatry.

Compensation:
• General Psychiatrist: Starting at $325,000
• Forensic Psychiatrist: Starting at $350,000
Compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and credentials.
