The Protection & Controls Engineer will support the design, configuration, testing, and commissioning of protection and control systems for utility transmission and substation projects. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, construction, and commissioning teams to deliver safe, reliable, and compliant electrical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop protection and control schemes for transmission and substation facilities.
- Perform relay settings calculations and coordination studies.
- Configure and commission SEL, GE Multilin, Siemens, Hitachi Energy and ABB protection relays.
- Prepare one-line diagrams, wiring schematics, panel layouts and cable schedules.
- Support SCADA integration and communications design.
- Participate in FAT, SAT, commissioning and energization activities.
- Ensure designs comply with utility, NERC, IEEE and IEC standards.
- Support outage planning and utility coordination.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 5+ years of utility transmission or substation experience.
- Experience with 69kV to 500kV systems.
- Knowledge of SEL relays, RTAC, ASPEN, ETAP and IEC-61850.
- EPC project experience preferred.
