The OpportunityWe are looking for a
Property Market Leader with a Mechanical or Electrical engineering background to join our growing multi-disciplinary team in New York.
This role is a strategic hire to build and strengthen work-winning capacity within our New York Building Engineering team. You will be part of a senior business development group, supported by Regional Business Leaders and the Marketing team in New York.
This role offers genuine scope to shape Arup's presence in a key market and create your own career path within a global firm.
The role- Lead business development activity: identifying opportunities, overseeing bid submissions, attending industry events, speaking at conferences, and representing Arup at client interviews
- Cultivate and grow relationships with existing and prospective clients across Commercial Real Estate (office, hotel, and residential), Arts & Culture, Higher Education Science, and Government Property sectors
- Act as Project Director on key engagements, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to client satisfaction
- Identify and mitigate technical, regulatory, and contractual risks; apply financial acumen to monitor budgets and project performance
- Build a climate of trust and openness within the team; develop junior members in client management and work-winning skills
- Maintain active engagement with New York industry networks (e.g., CREW, CREDA, or SCUP) to raise Arup's profile in the market
- Collaborate across disciplines on challenging and meaningful projects, bringing the best of Global Arup to the local New York market
Is this role right for you?- A degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York, or commitment to obtain within one year.
- 15+ years of experience, with a demonstrated track record of successful work-winning and project delivery, both technically and financially
- An established network or client relationships in the New York property market
- Familiarity with New York City building codes and standards
- Experience preparing proposals and bid submissions, and negotiating contracts aligned with commercial objectives
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build trust quickly across client and internal teams
Preferred- NCEES certification
- LEED Accreditation

New York / New Jersey Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in NY/NJ is $260,000 to $315,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of NY/NJ will differ.
