Overview

Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Project Water Resources Engineer or Scientist in one of our following offices: Charlotte, NC; Raleigh, NC; Asheville, NC; Wilmington, NC; Greenville, SC; MT. Pleasant SC, Johnson City, TN. This position offers the opportunity to work a hybrid schedule in one of the offices listed. The position will work on complex projects involving innovative urban stormwater management and natural surface water systems, including sustainable green infrastructure planning studies, urban stormwater infrastructure design and infrastructure, flood mitigation practices, hydrologic/hydraulic analysis including dam breach studies and floodplain mapping, stream restoration, surface water, watershed, and stormwater runoff monitoring/modeling, industrial and construction site NPDES permitting support and inspections, & Clean Water Act regulatory support.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performing and overseeing detailed hydrologic and hydraulic studies;
  • Developing innovative green infrastructure solutions for the urban environment;
  • Applying innovative hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software, from 1-D to 3-D transport models;
  • Floodplain mapping and flood protection designs;
  • In-stream and urban stormwater water quality monitoring and modeling;
  • Field investigations and construction support services;
  • Developing construction documents, including engineering drawings and technical specifications;
  • Preparing erosion and sediment control designs;
  • Interacting with client representatives;
  • Directing multi-disciplinary project teams;
  • Task and project-level responsibility for scoping, performing, managing and delivering multiple concurrent project assignments;
  • Consistent with our sell-manage-do business model, play a role supporting lead generation, business development, staff development, and mentoring; and
  • Help broaden our reputation via publishing and visibility at prominent industry conferences.
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.
Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental, civil, agricultural, biological, biosystems engineering, natural resources or other science, with emphasis on water resources or closely related discipline. (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
  • Professional registration or ability to obtain within one year (i.e., P.E., P.G. CPESC, CPSWG). (required) 
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • At least 7 years of research or related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required) 
  • Experience with modeling and design software tools such as EPA-SWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS. (preferred)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Some field work and overnight travel. (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
