Full Job Description
The Project Surveyor is a supervisory and production role that supports the surveying team under the direction of a Senior Surveyor or Project Manager. On a task-by-task basis, the Project Surveyor leads survey analysts and survey technicians and coordinates with survey subconsultants to deliver assigned work. Primary responsibilities include CAD drafting; survey research and analysis; map, base map, and exhibit preparation; legal description drafting; development of survey scopes and proposal inputs; support Willdan's engineering design teams and other departments with survey-related requests; assist Willdan's Contract City Surveyors with map and document plan checks; and overall internal project workflow management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead survey analysts and survey technicians on assigned tasks.
  • Coordinate survey subconsultants.
  • Prepare survey base maps, boundary/topographic surveys, design surveys, ALTA/NSPS surveys.
  • Perform CAD drafting using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Conduct survey research and analysis, including record maps and documents, assessor's maps, title reports, and other survey and historical documents.
  • Draft legal descriptions and plats.
  • Provide survey support to design engineering teams and other departments.
  • Assist with survey proposals by developing scopes and obtaining subconsultant estimates.
  • Perform quality control checks on CAD files, survey data, and deliverables.
  • Assist Contract City Surveyors with map and document plan checks.
  • Maintain organized digital project files, logs, and workflow documentation.

Job Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Coordinate survey subconsultants.
  • Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, Geomatics, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years survey office experience, including CAD, survey research, and survey mapping.
  • Land Surveyor-in-Training (LSIT) certification, or Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license (preferred).
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Bluebeam (preferred).
  • Strong analytical, geometric computation, and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to manage task assignments independently while working under licensed supervision.
  • Effective communication skills with internal teams and subconsultant.
