Overview

JOB PURPOSE

 

The Project Scheduler will be the lead resource for scheduling on the Construction Management Team for a specific project. This role coordinates inputs from various disciplines and functions to ensure accurate forecasts and schedule reporting. The Project Scheduler engages project leadership teams to understand causes of schedule deviations and establish actions to mitigate impacts. This position requires in-depth conceptual and practical scheduling knowledge utilizing various software tools and a basic knowledge of related job disciplines.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Prepares and maintains summary-level and detailed schedules for assigned project(s).
  • Responsible for ensuring all project scheduling activities comply with corporate standards and contractual requirements.
  • Promotes discipline knowledge exchange and quality application through technical coaching.
  • Contributes to improvement of the Schedule Management work process and leverages learning experiences.
  • Provides recommendations on cycle time reduction opportunities and techniques, as applied to scheduling.
  • Develops conceptual schedules to evaluate various alternatives or anticipated schedule challenges.
  • Develops and maintains Pattern project schedules including Front-end Loading, Detail Design, Procurement, Construction, and Start-up/Commissioning project stages.
  • Maintains the schedule during the project life cycle by monitoring progress and incorporating modifications when changes in the original scope occur or delays are encountered.
  • Utilizes project cost estimates to resource load project schedules and gain alignment with the estimated scope of work and project schedule.
  • Leads project teams in forecasting schedule challenges and offers analyses and solutions to complete the project on schedule.
  • Performs critical path analysis to determine problem areas related to project schedule and resource overloads and offers alternative courses of action to the project team.
  • Evaluates project deviations to assess schedule impact for proper decision-making and recovery planning.
  • Works with cost management to gain alignment when forecasting schedule completion dates.
  • Applies established schedule management practices to identify critical schedule issues and recommend corrective actions.

Educational Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration; bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management desired.
  • OR 5–8 minimum years of scheduling experience in utility-scale transmission and/or renewable energy projects.

 

Required Work Experience

 

  • 3 years of experience in project scheduling within project engineering, construction, or related experience.
  • OR master’s degree involving proven coursework in P6 and MS Project scheduling.
  • Proficient with Primavera P6, InEight Schedule, and other scheduling software.
  • Experience in change management principles, performance evaluation processes, and earned value analysis, including cost performance index and schedule performance index.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and resolve multiple issues on multiple projects under demanding schedule constraints.

 

Additional Requirements

 

  • PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP) certification or other PMI certification preferred.
  • Experience in wind, solar, transmission, or substation scheduling preferred.
  • Ability to travel approximately 10–25% across North America, including the U.S. and Canada.

 

The expected starting pay range for this role is $111,000 - $138,000 USD. This range is an estimate and base pay may be above or below the ranges based on several factors including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, Pattern’s compensation program includes a bonus structure for full-time employees of all levels.
