Full Job Description
The Opportunity:
Tetra Tech is seeking a Project Manager - Water/Wastewater (PE) to work in our Ann Arbor, Michigan office. This role offers the opportunity to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage client relationships, and oversee the planning and execution of civil, stormwater, and water/wastewater infrastructure projects supporting municipal and utility clients.

Position Summary:
The Project Manager - Water/Wastewater (PE) leads the delivery of water, wastewater, stormwater, and civil infrastructure projects from planning through design and execution. This role is responsible for technical leadership, project management, client engagement, and mentoring junior staff while ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations.

• Lead the preparation of engineering reports, design documents, and technical specifications.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources across multidisciplinary teams.
• Serve as lead engineer on stormwater and wastewater projects.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships through consistent communication and high-quality delivery.
• Mentor and develop junior engineering staff.
• Ensure adherence to standard engineering practices and documentation requirements.
• Evaluate evolving water, wastewater, and stormwater regulations and assess municipal impacts.
• Provide technical support related to resiliency and sustainability design elements.
• Interpret engineering drawings and specifications and coordinate closely with internal design teams.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Experience with hydraulic modeling and civil design tools (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Willingness to travel periodically (approximately 15% or more).

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working with municipal or utility clients.
• Familiarity with Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) regulations.
• Prior experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to perform office-based work with occasional visits to project or construction sites.
• Ability to walk, stand, and perform light to moderate physical activity, including occasional lifting of up to 25-50 pounds.
• Ability to use a computer and standard office equipment for extended periods.

Work Environment / Environmental Factors:
• Combination of office and field environments, including municipal facilities and active project sites.
• Occasional exposure to varying weather conditions during site visits.
• Moderate noise levels may be present in field settings.
• Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
