Project Manager | Water & Wastewater Utilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join its Water and Wastewater Utilities team. This individual will play a key role in managing municipal infrastructure projects, supporting long-term planning efforts, and strengthening client relationships across the region.

The ideal candidate brings a blend of technical expertise, project leadership, and client-facing experience, along with a passion for mentoring others and contributing to a collaborative team environment.

What You'll Do
  • Lead and manage municipal water and wastewater projects from planning through design and construction
  • Oversee water and wastewater master planning studies, capital improvement planning efforts, and hydraulic modeling initiatives
  • Manage projects involving pump stations, lift stations, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, wells, and related infrastructure
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to municipal clients and maintain strong relationships
  • Provide leadership and guidance to project engineers and design staff
  • Review plans, specifications, reports, schedules, and budgets
  • Mentor junior engineers and support their professional development
  • Support business development efforts and identify opportunities for additional work with existing and prospective clients

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain Colorado licensure within six months
  • 10+ years of water and wastewater engineering experience
  • Experience managing municipal infrastructure projects
  • Strong background in one or more of the following:
    • Water modeling
    • Wastewater modeling
    • Master planning
    • Capital improvement planning
    • Pump stations and lift stations
    • Utility infrastructure design
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Proven ability to lead projects and mentor technical staff

Preferred Experience
  • Municipal consulting experience
  • Existing municipal relationships within Colorado
  • Experience working in both consulting and public-sector environments
  • Familiarity with WaterCAD, SewerCAD, EPANET, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Aquanuity, or similar tools

Compensation: $125,000 - $170,000+ DOE
