Project Manager - Teledata, Telecommunications & Fiber Optic

Position Summary

The Project Manager will be responsible for the successful planning, coordination, execution, and closeout of teledata, telecommunications, fiber optic, low-voltage, and technology infrastructure projects. This position will manage projects from initial estimating and contract award through final completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of structured cabling, fiber optic systems, telecommunications infrastructure, pathways and raceways, data center environments, and other low-voltage technology systems, combined with proven project management and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities
• Manage multiple teledata, telecommunications, fiber optic, and low-voltage projects from start to finish.
• Review project plans, specifications, drawings, contracts, scopes of work, and schedules.
• Develop project schedules, budgets, manpower requirements, procurement plans, and execution strategies.
• Coordinate with owners, general contractors, architects, engineers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal field personnel.
• Lead project kickoff meetings and maintain clear communication throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage project costs, billing, forecasting, change orders, purchase orders, and financial performance.
• Track labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs against project budgets.
• Identify project risks and develop strategies to mitigate schedule, cost, and performance issues.
• Review and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, material releases, and project documentation.
• Coordinate material procurement and ensure equipment and materials arrive when required.
• Work closely with field supervisors and technicians to ensure installations meet project requirements.
• Oversee installation of structured cabling, fiber optic, telecommunications, data, security, and related low-voltage systems.
• Coordinate fiber optic installation, termination, splicing, testing, certification, and documentation as applicable.
• Ensure work complies with project specifications, applicable codes, industry standards, and customer requirements.
• Monitor quality control and ensure deficiencies are identified and corrected promptly.
• Participate in job walks, site meetings, progress meetings, inspections, and commissioning activities.
• Review testing and certification documentation and ensure complete project turnover packages.
• Maintain accurate project records, schedules, budgets, correspondence, and closeout documentation.
• Assist with estimating, proposals, scope development, and preconstruction activities as needed.
• Develop and maintain strong customer and client relationships.
• Support business development and identify opportunities for additional work with existing customers.
• Ensure projects are executed in accordance with company safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

Technical Knowledge

Experience with several of the following is preferred:
• Structured cabling systems
• Category 5e/6/6A copper cabling
• Fiber optic cabling and infrastructure
• Fiber optic fusion splicing and termination
• Fiber optic testing and certification
