HGA is seeking a Pipeline Project Manager to support operations from any current Integrated Services office (The Woodlands, TX, Ruston, LA, Monroe, LA, Hattiesburg, MS, Birmingham, AL, or Lexington, KY). This role leads execution of interstate natural gas, liquids, and midstream infrastructure projects from initiation through construction support and closeout. This role serves as the primary client interface and is accountable for project scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk management, and overall performance. The ideal candidate has a demonstrated track record delivering long-distance transmission pipeline projects subject to Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) requirements, including pre-filing, permitting, environmental coordination, routing, design, and construction support. This role requires strong leadership of multidisciplinary teams - pipeline and facilities engineering, project controls, survey, GIS, environmental, right-of-way, permitting, and construction support - and close coordination with client teams, regulatory agencies, and contractors.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the primary client point of contact; lead project planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout activities.
- Develop and maintain project execution plans, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and risk registers.
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams and conduct weekly status meetings with internal teams and clients.
- Manage FERC pre-filing and certificate application support, coordinating Resource Report deliverables and regulatory filings across engineering, environmental, survey, land, and permitting teams.
- Support routing studies, alternatives evaluations, constructability reviews, and permit strategies; ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
- Provide oversight and quality assurance of pipeline design activities, including alignment development, hydraulic studies, wall thickness evaluations, class location analyses, valve placement, crossing designs, trenchless installations, and hydrotest planning.
- Develop and manage project schedules using Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or equivalent tools.
- Lead project controls efforts related to earned value, forecasting, change management, and reporting.
- Manage scope changes and negotiate change orders with clients.
- Lead constructability reviews and execution planning; coordinate engineering support during procurement and construction.
- Support contractor selection, bid evaluations, and technical reviews; manage field issue resolution during construction.
- Lead project closeout and lessons-learned activities.
- Support proposal development, client presentations, and staffing plans for new project pursuits.
Required Qualifications- B.S. degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of pipeline industry experience, including 5+ years serving as Project Manager on large capital pipeline projects.
- Demonstrated experience managing long-distance transmission pipeline projects subject to FERC regulation.
- Experience leading multidiscipline engineering and project execution teams from conceptual design through construction support.
- Working knowledge of FERC permitting/certificate processes, pipeline routing and alignment development, ASME B31.8/B31.4, and 49 CFR 192/195.
- Strong project scheduling, cost management, risk management, and change control skills.
- PE license and/or PMP certification preferred.
