Description

The Project Manager II in Corporate Real Estate Planning and Development, will manage facility and infrastructure related construction projects from planning through activation in accordance with corporate policies, established standards and governing regulations and requirements. The successful candidate will manage several (10-15) projects will vary in complexity. The Manager will collaborate with airport authorities as required, to ascertain, understand and collaborate with the airport staff on facilities or other airport infrastructure projects to ensure the airline interests are accounted for and addressed. This position is onsite at the Newark Airport.
• Leads successful projects by combining strategic thinking, business acumen and technical experience
• Creates project justifications through stakeholder engagement, communication and option development
• Manages vendor staff support overseeing project construction and administration
• Meets project metrics within approved business case cost and scope
• Portfolio Planning, Development and Management:

o Establish and maintain strong business relationships with airport leaders and United Internal Customer

o Develop project strategy and approach during Envision and develop multiple alternatives to achieve Project Objective

• Project Delivery:

o Manages design and executes airport and commercial property facility and infrastructure construction project

o Manages the programming, planning, design, construction, schedule and budget related issues that pose challenges to the success of the project by drawing on knowledge of the planning, design, construction process knowledge and experience

o Accountable for the compliance with budget, schedule and scope of the project

o Responsible for governance of the UA and CRE, artifacts, and guideline

o Responsible for the utilization of any UA and CRE process and standard

o Responsible for the use of Project Database, PM Artifacts, workflows, Project Management Guidelines etc.

o Uses of CRE Project tools such as SharePoint, Microsoft Project, Oracle and others as defined by need

o Ensures that projects meet defined metric

o Responsible and accountable for transparent, accurate, consistent project reporting (weekly, monthly and quarterly) of portfolio of project

• Leadership:

o Establishes individual goals that align with departmental goal

o Responsible in developing individual career development and training plans with leader

o Use technical knowledge experience to provide thoughtful decision making and guidance in strategic implementation of United's approved project

o Is solution oriented and committed to creating and sustaining a culture of continuous improvement and innovation

o Models integrity, possesses self-awareness and fosters an environment of accountability

o Will be held accountable for providing constant and transparent communication to their Project Team, Leadership, Stakeholders and Customer

Qualifications

What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3+ years Planning, Design (Engineering or Architecture) and/or Construction Experience
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects understanding of best practices of Project Management
  • Knowledge of design and construction management process and vernacular
  • Experience in construction safety, capital improvement planning for facilities
  • This position requires the ability to navigate airport environments, including:

    - Walking extended distances across terminals and operational area

    - Standing for prolonged periods during site visits and meeting

    - Climbing stairs and using escalators/elevators to access different airport level

    - Working in varying environmental conditions (temperature-controlled terminals and outdoor areas)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
