Position Summary
TCE is seeking a motivated and client-focused Project Manager II to join our Houston, Texas office. This individual will be responsible for managing engineering projects within the oil, gas, specialty chemicals, energy transition, and industrial sectors. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management skills, demonstrate the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, and maintain effective client relationships while delivering projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years of project management or engineering experience within the consulting engineering industry or a related owner/operator environment. Experience managing engineering projects, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and supporting business development efforts is highly desirable.
This role provides an excellent opportunity for a developing project leader to manage projects of increasing complexity while working closely with senior project leadership and clients.
Responsibilities
Provide project leadership and day-to-day management of assigned projects under the direction of a Project Director or Senior Project Manager.
Support the planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout of engineering and EPCm projects.
Develop and maintain project execution plans, schedules, staffing plans, and project procedures.
Coordinate with Project Controls to establish and monitor project budgets, schedules, forecasts, and performance metrics.
Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams to successfully execute project scope.
Maintain a thorough understanding of project contracts and ensure project execution aligns with contractual requirements.
Monitor project risk and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impacts to cost, schedule, quality, and safety.
Manage project scope development and change management processes.
Serve as a primary point of contact for clients on assigned projects while maintaining strong professional relationships.
Facilitate effective communication between project team members, clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
Ensure project deliverables meet quality requirements and client expectations.
Promote a safety-focused culture and ensure compliance with all client and company safety requirements.
Participate in project staffing, resource planning, and workload forecasting activities.
Support proposal development, project planning, and business development initiatives as requested.
Identify opportunities for additional services and assist in expanding client relationships.
Mentor and support engineers and project team members.
Prepare and present project status reports to management and clients.
Comply with all TCE policies, procedures, operating guidelines, and quality management requirements.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in consulting engineering, EPCm, or a related owner/operator environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing engineering projects, including scope, schedule, budget, and resource management responsibilities.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Strong understanding of engineering project execution processes.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to build and maintain effective client relationships.
- Must reside in or be willing to relocate to the Houston, Texas area.
Preferred
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure.
- Experience in refining, petrochemicals, specialty chemicals, LNG, midstream, terminals, energy transition, or power industries.
- Experience with project controls, cost forecasting, earned value management, and project reporting.
- Familiarity with EPC, EPCm, FEED, and detailed engineering project execution models.
- Experience supporting proposal development and business development activities.
- PMP certification or progress toward obtaining PMP certification.
- Existing relationships with Houston-area owner/operators, EPCs, and industrial clients are considered a plus.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
