Richmond area, Virginia // Exempt, salariedTHE ROLEYou lead the overall planning and management of MEB's heavy civil and industrial projects: water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, pipelines, utility systems, and other complex infrastructure. Your responsibility is to protect MEB's contractual and financial position while giving the field team what it needs to safely deliver quality work on schedule.
WHAT YOU WILL OWN- The project P&L. Make commitments, execute subcontracts and purchase orders, approve change orders, and approve invoices and payments per company policy.
- The execution plan. Develop it in partnership with the Superintendent, and forecast labor and cost.
- The schedule. Build and manage it in Primavera P6, including the schedule of values and impact analysis.
- Procurement and buyout. Manage subcontractors and vendors, and procure long-lead equipment.
- Contract administration and risk. Identify scope changes, give timely formal notice, and prepare, negotiate, and resolve change orders.
- Issue resolution. Resolve design, contract, and field issues before they affect production.
- Coordination. Work with owners, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, and suppliers to keep decisions, documentation, and approvals clear and timely.
- Safety and people. Develop the site-specific safety plan with the safety department, hold full stop-work authority, and develop your Project Engineers.
WHAT YOU BRING- 8+ years of construction project management across at least 6 completed projects, including at least two you managed independently from preconstruction through closeout
- Demonstrated P&L ownership on medium to large projects. Be ready to walk us through a job where the forecast moved and what you did about it
- Heavy civil experience strongly preferred: treatment plants, pipelines, industrial
- CPM scheduling in Primavera P6, including schedule of values and time-impact analysis
- Hands-on Viewpoint across buyout, change orders, billing, and projections, or comparable ERP you can transfer quickly
- Experience negotiating contested change orders to resolution, and mentoring Project Engineers through their development plans
- Bachelor's in engineering, construction management, or building construction preferred, or equivalent experience. OSHA 30, valid driver's license, USACE or NAVFAC CQC certificate
WORK ENVIRONMENT- Assignment varies by project. You may be embedded full time at one jobsite, rotate between several, or split time between an office and the field
- Walk active jobsites over uneven terrain, climb stairs and ladders, and work around heavy equipment in outdoor conditions; required PPE
- Extended computer work. Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 lbs
COMPENSATIONThe anticipated starting salary for this position is $115,000 to $165,000 per year. This is the range we expect to pay someone starting in this position. Where an offer lands within it depends on the experience you bring, the certifications and technical skills that apply to this work, the scope you have carried before, and what we pay people already doing equivalent work here. The range covers base pay. It is a starting range, not a ceiling. People move up through it and past it as they grow with us.
