Description

We are looking for a Project Manager to lead the successful planning, execution, and delivery of technical field service and engineering projects. This position will manage projects from initial planning and scope development through execution, closeout, and follow-up, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality. The ideal candidate is an organized and technically minded project leader who can effectively coordinate customers, field personnel, engineers, project coordinators, vendors, and internal stakeholders while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

This position will require approximately 30% travel to customer and project sites. When not traveling, the Project Manager will work from one of our corporate offices. We are open to candidates based out of either our Columbus, OH or Tipp City, OH locations.

Project Management & Execution
  • Lead the planning and execution of electrical maintenance, engineering, system design, and electrical upgrade projects.
  • Manage project scope, cost, materials, resources, schedule, safety, quality, and customer expectations from kickoff through completion.
  • Develop project execution strategies, work plans, schedules, milestones, and resource requirements.
  • Review project requirements, drawings, specifications, work scopes, and customer documentation to ensure alignment before work begins.
  • Participate in final bid reviews and assist with developing project execution methodologies and schedules.
  • Prepare and coordinate work orders, ensuring they accurately reflect the agreed scope and project requirements.
  • Coordinate field crews, technical leads, project coordinators, engineering resources, equipment, materials, and subcontractors as required.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively identify potential schedule, cost, resource, or scope issues.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining visibility into priorities, deadlines, risks, and deliverables.
  • Ensure projects are executed in accordance with customer requirements, company standards, applicable codes, and established procedures.
  • Conduct project closeout activities, including documentation, customer follow-up, lessons learned, and final project reviews.


Client & Business Development
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with customers through regular communication and project engagement.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned projects and ensure customers receive timely updates regarding project status, milestones, risks, and changes.
  • Work with customers to clarify project requirements, resolve questions, and identify potential scope changes.
  • Identify additional service opportunities and communicate them to the Sales team.
  • Assist Sales with project estimating, scope development, proposals, and bid reviews.
  • Facilitate customer and internal discussions when clarification is required regarding scope, schedule, technical requirements, or project execution.
  • Project Controls & Financial Management
  • Monitor project costs, labor, equipment, materials, and other resources to ensure projects remain within approved budgets.
  • Track project performance against established scope, schedule, and financial objectives.
  • Identify and communicate potential cost overruns, schedule impacts, and scope changes.
  • Manage project Change Logs, Change Orders, RFIs, and other project controls.
  • Support accurate and timely invoicing by ensuring labor, equipment, material usage, and completed work are properly documented and approved.
  • Maintain accurate project records and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify, document, mitigate, and manage project risks.


Field & Job Execution
  • Maintain regular communication with customers, field personnel, technical leads, management, and other stakeholders throughout project execution.
  • Coordinate work orders with customer Operations and Maintenance teams.
  • Coordinate larger crews and resources during maintenance outages and turnarounds.
  • Work with customer planners to optimize work orders, schedules, and execution plans.
  • Monitor field execution to ensure work is completed according to the approved scope, schedule, budget, safety requirements, and quality standards.
  • Provide regular project status updates to management and Sales.
  • Escalate project concerns, risks, delays, or deviations promptly to the appropriate Regional and Sales leadership.
  • Provide feedback regarding project execution, field performance, and opportunities for improvement.


Reporting & Documentation
  • Ensure all required project documentation is completed accurately, timely, and in accordance with company and customer requirements.
  • Maintain accurate project files, including work orders, drawings, reports, change documentation, safety records, and closeout materials.
  • Ensure applicable customer drawings and technical documentation are accurate and current.
  • Conduct or coordinate technical reviews as required.
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, monthly, and final project reports based on customer requirements.
  • Ensure project milestones, deviations, changes, risks, safety concerns, and quality issues are properly documented and communicated.


Leadership & Team Development
  • Provide effective leadership and direction to employees and project teams throughout project execution.
  • Coordinate and integrate employees into projects in a safe, productive, and organized manner.
  • Work closely with technical leads and field personnel to establish clear expectations and deliverables.
  • Mentor, coach, and support the development of employees.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and customer-focused project environment.
  • Lead by example and demonstrate professionalism in interactions with customers, employees, and business partners.


Safety & Quality
  • Serve as a visible safety leader at customer facilities and project sites.
  • Ensure all company and customer safety policies, procedures, and requirements are followed.
  • Promote a strong safety culture throughout project planning and execution.
  • Participate in safety meetings and deliver one to two safety topics each month.
  • Ensure employees and project teams understand and follow applicable safety requirements.
  • Ensure quality requirements are understood, documented, and maintained throughout project execution.
  • Review project documentation and deliverables to ensure work meets established quality standards.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Electrical Engineering, Business, or a related technical field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 5+ years of project management experience, preferably within electrical services, utilities, power generation, industrial facilities, engineering, construction, or a related technical environment.
  • Experience managing projects involving electrical maintenance, testing, engineering, equipment upgrades, power distribution systems, or electrical infrastructure preferred.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles, including scope, cost, scheduling, resource planning, risk management, and project closeout.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, technical specifications, project documents, and work scopes.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and competing priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers, field personnel, engineers, leadership, and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to identify issues and develop practical solutions.
  • Ability to work independently while also effectively leading cross-functional project teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint; experience with project management or ERP systems is a plus.
  • Experience with project estimating, budgeting, change orders, RFIs, and project reporting preferred.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E, electrical safety practices, and industrial safety requirements is preferred.
  • PMP certification or other project management certification is a plus.


Physical & Travel Requirements
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company background check and drug-screen requirements.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of equipment, tools, PPE, and documentation as needed during site visits.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and navigate industrial environments for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in confined or restricted spaces, including electrical rooms, switchgear lineups, vaults, substations, and equipment rooms.
  • Ability to wear required arc-rated PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, hearing protection, and FR/AR clothing, for extended periods in accordance with NFPA 70E and customer requirements.
  • Ability to safely work around energized electrical equipment while maintaining situational awareness and following established approach boundaries and safety procedures.
  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including heat, cold, humidity, outdoor substations, and industrial facilities.
  • Ability to travel approximately 30%, with occasional overnight travel based on project requirements.
