PROJECT MANAGER, DATA/TELECOM/AV/SECURITY
This position is based out of a project site in Phoenix, AZ.

About the Position

Responsible to manage multiple projects of varying sizes and complexities from start to finish, including proposals, bids, project design, quality control, job scheduling, problem resolution, job completion, coordination, communication, client satisfaction activities and other related duties, in alignment with all Company policies, procedures, key objectives and regulations. This position assists or manages job estimating, project budgets, projections and contracts, job solicitation and project negotiations, and may also be responsible for training, mentoring, and providing work direction to other project team members. This position assists technologies construction projects including but not limited to all types of low voltage systems such as voice/data, video and security systems, audiovisual, nurse call, distributed antenna systems, and fire alarm systems.

Day in the Life
  • Directs all phases and activities of each project to achieve high quality and productivity in the work performed. This includes project plans, quotations, bidding, budgeting, monitoring projections, equipment, scheduling testing procedures, and establishing goals and standards of performance. Ensures all plans and specifications clearly and accurately identify project scope and milestones and are shared professionally with all appropriate parties. Ensures all jobs or contracts are fulfilled to the customer's satisfaction and the Company earns a fair profit.
  • This position may assist with technologies construction projects, including but not limited to various low voltage systems such as voice/data, video and security systems, audiovisual, nurse call, distributed antenna systems (DAS), and fire alarm systems.
  • Prepares and manages timely and accurate project documents and status reports, estimates, projections, material release schedules, client information, project schedules, purchase orders, monthly invoices, payments, closeout documents, warranties, drawings, maintenance manuals, final billings, change orders, cost codes, and other documentation to support construction project work. Maintains and manages submittal logs. Provides staffing and account management support, customer service, and new business development as needed.
  • Documents methods of procedure (MOPs), and ensures all field personnel have the current materials, tools, plans, schedules, and directions needed for their work. Communicates all changes in budget and scope of work appropriately. Ensures design staff have the necessary data, submittals, and resources to complete their work. Establishes clearly defined duties and objectives to achieve required test results.
  • Secures subcontractors utilizing standard subcontract agreements binding them to terms aligned with Company contract requirements, thereby assigning the appropriate risk. Obtains permits as needed. Procures materials in a proactive and coordinated manner and negotiates with vendors and distributors on availability and pricing of materials, completion of quotes, and other necessary procedure details. Ensures all plans and documents are maintained in the appropriate systems.
  • Conducts job start-up meetings with field operations leaders and others to transfer documentation, schedules, and other information. Regularly attends project update meetings to stay current on job scope, schedules, administrative needs, and market conditions. Provides day-to-day direction to project foremen or superintendents, and/or design staff as needed to monitor productivity goals and build teamwork.
  • Partners with project foremen and all project team members to conduct job site inspections and job safety audits. Ensures accurate scope, placement, and conformance with contract documents and the Company's project quality assurance and safety standards. Stays informed of new electrical and safety codes, materials, technologies, techniques, and practices. Ensures all safety programs and OSHA requirements are followed .

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering, project management, business administration, construction management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of project management experience. Solid project management training and skills. Thorough understanding of the project life cycle.
  • Minimum of 2 years of project management work experience in construction (electrical distribution/substation, renewable energy, or related disciplines) may be required for some divisions or business groups.
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in a designer role may be required for some divisions or business groups.
  • Experience and proficiency using construction software tools (e.g., Procore, Accubid , Revit, CAD, SKM, AGI, Navisworks, and/or BIM systems) may be required for some divisions or business groups. Trained and proficient in estimating techniques, negotiating, budgeting, costing, contracting, scheduling, pricing, and common code requirements.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency with project management tools and techniques, construction methods and materials, estimating, costing, power, lighting, systems design, and general industry safety standards, procedures, and OSHA regulations.
  • Skills to read, interpret, and understand electrical contracts, plans, drawings, blueprints, and specifications. Excellent financial, analytical, and mathematical skills.
  • Customer focus, delegation, presentation, and decision-making skills. Strong organizational and critical thinking skills, with attention to detail. Demonstrated a high level of integrity and dependability.
  • Strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills. Effective independent problem-solving, negotiation, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Collaboration, coaching, teamwork, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work with diverse work teams. Working knowledge of collective bargaining agreements.
  • Work experience with continuous improvement methodologies and/or similar applications. Strong process orientation.

Travel
  • Working on-site at the project location is required. When project activity slows down, work may be performed from your home office.
