THE OPPORTUNITY
If you don't have 5+ years in custom residential building, please don't apply.
We're not hiring just a project manager.
We're hiring a proven operator - the kind of project leader who can help take us to the next level and continue to establish us as the preferred choice for custom luxury homes in Northern Utah.
If that sounds ambitious, it is.
And it won't happen with average execution.
It will happen because we build a team that:
- Operates with discipline
- Takes ownership at every level
- Delivers at a standard most builders can't sustain
This role sits at the center of that kind of execution.
This is a defining moment for the company
Peterson Builders has spent 50 years building a strong reputation in the Ogden Valley. Now we're looking for someone who can help us raise the bar again - bringing the leadership, discipline, and execution required to scale what we do at an even higher level.
That means:
- Higher expectations
- Less tolerance for inconsistency
- Zero room for good enough
We are well on our way to taking that next step and are looking for great people that will support us as we take on more and more of the market share in the area.
The people in roles like this will decide that outcome of arriving at the next step.
What success actually looks like
Success is not:
- Keeping projects moving
- Going through the motions
- Explaining why things went wrong
Success is:
- Predictable, well-run projects
- Strong financial performance
- High-end execution without breakdowns
- Clients who love the outcome and who trust the process completely
Consistency that allows us to continue to take on bigger, more complex projects.
What you own
You own the result.
- The client experience
- The project schedule
- The financial outcome
- The quality of execution
- The accountability of the team
If something slips, it's yours. If it breaks, you fix it.
How you operate
You don't wait for direction.
- Identify problems early
- Push for clarity
- Hold people accountable
- Maintain control in complexity
You run projects with structure, discipline, and visibility.
What the job requires
- Lead client communication
- Manage schedules and budgets
- Run structured budget meetings
- Oversee change orders
- Align plans and execution
- Drive accountability across teams
You will spend time in the field where standards are enforced, however you're not site superintendent. You will be working with a Site Manager.
Who should not apply
This role is not for people who need constant direction, need handholding while using Excel, avoid accountability, or are comfortable with average performance.
Who this role is for
- You take ownership naturally
- You focus on outcomes, not tasks
- You hold a high standard
- You understand residential construction deeply
- You listen just as much as you talk
Your background
- 8+ years in custom residential construction
- Strong understanding of building science
- Experience managing high end luxury budgets and schedules
- Tech Savvy
More importantly: you can create control in complex project environments.
Non-negotiables
- Professional Discipline
- Built Accountable
- Integrity First
These core values will not be negotiated.
The reality
This is a demanding role because it requires a high level of detailed communication, the ability to navigate the complexity of custom luxury residential construction, and the capacity to perform under pressure - that's why it matters.
Final word
If you want an easy role, this isn't it.
If you want project ownership, high standards, and to help continue raising the bar in residential luxury construction, this is that opportunity for you to take the next step in your career path.
