Project Manager - Construction

Houston, Texas | Onsite | Direct Hire

MaxIT Consulting - Max Corporate Group is seeking an experienced Project Manager - Construction to join a large U.S. organization supporting complex design, construction, and capital improvement initiatives in the Houston area.

This position will serve as a key member of a Design and Construction management team, overseeing capital projects throughout the design, construction, implementation, and closeout phases.

The ideal candidate brings strong experience in new construction, renovations, MEP infrastructure, facilities environments, contractor coordination, project scheduling, cost management, and stakeholder communication.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop comprehensive project schedules and execute assigned construction projects according to established plans, timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Manage capital projects involving new construction, renovations, facility improvements, and MEP infrastructure.
  • Review contractual scopes of work and evaluate the impact of client bulletins, field directives, design changes, and schedule modifications.
  • Identify, develop, and manage project change orders.
  • Prepare cost estimates, proposals, and supporting project documentation.
  • Participate in negotiations related to project scope, pricing, and final settlement.
  • Monitor project financial performance and communicate budget status, risks, issues, and progress to management and key stakeholders.
  • Coordinate project teams, contractors, subcontractors, consultants, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain strong long-term relationships with consultants, prime contractors, subcontractors, and business partners.
  • Lead and participate in construction progress meetings.
  • Coordinate the timely delivery of project materials, equipment, and other required resources.
  • Manage project assignments and responsibilities based on contractor, vendor, and project-team capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, and implementation plans.
  • Support risk identification, issue resolution, quality control, and construction safety requirements.
  • Ensure contractual requirements and project obligations are fulfilled throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Approximately 5+ years of Construction and/or Project Management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing new construction projects, renovations, and MEP infrastructure.
  • Experience managing capital construction or facilities projects from planning through completion.
  • Approximately 3+ years of experience within facilities maintenance, plant operations, engineering services, or a comparable operational environment.
  • Approximately 5 years of management or leadership experience within construction, engineering, facilities, or project delivery.
  • Experience developing and managing project schedules, budgets, cost estimates, and project timelines.
  • Experience coordinating contractors, subcontractors, consultants, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of construction project lifecycle activities, including design coordination, construction execution, change management, and project closeout.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong stakeholder-management and client-facing capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects within a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in environments where processes, requirements, or project conditions may evolve.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • OSHA 30 certification or ability to obtain certification within 120 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline.

Work Arrangement

Candidates should be able to commute consistently to the assigned Houston work location and project sites as required.
