Position OverviewSK&A is seeking an experienced
Project Manager with
8-10 years of professional experience to lead building enclosure and waterproofing projects for both new construction & existing buildings. This role is intended for a senior technical consultant who can manage projects independently, serve as a primary client contact, and provide technical leadership across design-phase consulting, field investigations, and construction administration.
The successful candidate will be responsible for project execution, technical quality, client coordination, and mentoring of junior staff, while supporting the continued growth and development of SK&A's Building Enclosure + Waterproofing Division.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Management & Client Leadership- Serve as Project Manager for building enclosure and waterproofing consulting projects, managing scope, schedule, budget, and deliverables.
- Act as a primary point of contact for clients, architects, contractors, and owners.
- Lead project meetings, including design coordination meetings, pre-installation conferences, and construction progress discussions.
- Support proposal development, fee negotiation, and scope definition for new projects.
Design-Phase Consulting- Lead technical reviews of architectural drawings and specifications at the SD, DD, and CD phases.
- Provide technical leadership for the design and detailing of wall assemblies, roofing systems, waterproofing systems, and critical transitions.
- Evaluate enclosure performance risks related to air, water, thermal, and vapor control and develop constructible, durable design solutions.
- Coordinate enclosure design issues with structural, MEP, and architectural disciplines.
Existing Building Assessments & Forensic Investigations- Lead façade, roof, and waterproofing condition assessments for existing buildings.
- Plan and execute moisture intrusion investigations, leak diagnostics, and forensic evaluations.
- Oversee field testing programs (e.g., water infiltration, air leakage, roof moisture surveys).
- Prepare and review technical reports summarizing findings, conclusions, and repair recommendations.
Construction Phase Services & QA/QC- Lead construction observation and building enclosure quality assurance services.
- Review enclosure-related submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and change requests.
- Participate in or lead enclosure mockups, testing, and performance verification.
- Support or lead Building Enclosure Commissioning (BECx) services where applicable.
Team Leadership & Practice Development- Mentor and oversee junior and mid-level staff, providing technical guidance and QA/QC review.
- Contribute to the development of internal standards, typical details, specifications, and technical resources.
- Support business development efforts through client relationships, repeat work, and thought leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Building Science, Construction Management, or related field.
- 8-10 years of professional experience in building enclosure consulting, waterproofing, façade engineering, or related disciplines.
- Demonstrated experience managing projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong technical knowledge of building enclosure systems including wall assemblies, roofing systems, waterproofing, and façade systems.
- Proficiency with industry standards and testing protocols (ASTM, AAMA, etc.).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience producing high-quality technical reports and client correspondence.
- Ability to perform field work and site visits, including rooftops, façades, and active construction sites.
Preferred- Professional licensure (PE, RA)
- Experience and Certification - Building Enclosure Commissioning (BECx).
- IIBEC Credentials (i.e., RRO, RRC, REWC, etc.)
- Experience with hygrothermal analysis, forensic investigations, or restoration projects.
- Familiarity with sustainable design and energy code considerations.
- Client-facing experience and comfort participating in technical meetings and presentations.
