Qualifications

• 2-5 years managing commercial mechanical, HVAC, or plumbing construction projects.
• Federal or public sector experience preferred, or a willingness to learn how those jobs differ.
• Strong understanding of contract drawings and specifications with problem-solving skills for discrepancies.
• Proficient in project cost management: budgets, forecasts, change orders, and billings.
• Knowledge in plumbing, building automation, or other MEP trades is an advantage.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with a focus on professionalism.
• Clear writing skills for effective communication with subcontractors and team members.
• Degree in engineering or construction management preferred, or equivalent field experience accepted.
• Ability to travel 50-60% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of federal mechanical contracts from award through closeout and warranty.
• Manage cost-to-complete on projects and justify variances during reviews.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, prioritizing critical constraints.
• Oversee contractor procurement: scope, negotiate, and award contracts.
• Price and negotiate change orders with clients, defending proposals as needed.
• Handle submittals, RFIs, and procurement with assistance from a Project Engineer.
• Manage customer and subcontractor billing reviews on assigned projects.
• Foster and uphold safety performance standards alongside the field team.
