Job Description

This role is as a Project Manager in support of the Project Management Office for the Contract for Organizing Spaceflight Mission Operations and Systems (COSMOS) which is NASA’s next-generation mission operations contract located on-site at Johnson Space Center. COSMOS ensures the continuity of critical human spaceflight support by providing mission control services, advanced training systems, and full-scale spacecraft mockups for astronaut preparation and engineering analysis.

Description of Duties

The Project Manager is responsible for the end-to-end execution of assigned projects, serving as the single accountable leader for scope, schedule, budget, technical coordination, communications, and project performance. The Project Manager integrates technical, financial, scheduling, and risk management activities into a single project management function while working closely with systems engineers, software engineers, release managers, customers, and supporting organizations.

Successful candidates will:

• Lead assigned projects from initiation through closeout.

• Serve as the single accountable owner for project execution.

• Develop and maintain project plans.

• Coordinate work across multiple engineering disciplines.

• Balance competing priorities while maintaining customer commitments.

• Ensure projects support mission objectives.

• Track procurement milestones and ensure timely delivery to meet project schedules.

• Understand and manage approved requirements.

• Develop and manage realistic schedules and communicate schedule impacts to stakeholders when required

• Identify and mitigate project risks as they develop while communicating risks and mitigations to stakeholders in a timely manner

• Possesses strong team-building skills across multi-functional areas that establish a collaborative operational structure including active listening, prompt service and follow-up

• Exhibits proven track record of working under tight deadlines

• High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently

• Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Job Requirements

Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience:  Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of general experience; Master’s degree and 1 year of general experience.

• Must be able to obtain a NASA Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Badge for NASA credentials

Desired Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Engineering, Computer Science, or Project Management

• Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification from Project Management Institute (PMI)

•Experience with Office 365 Tools

This position is expected to pay $90k - $120k annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

Final compensation is determined through a comprehensive evaluation of several key factors, including the candidate’s educational background, specialized technical expertise, and relevant professional experience. We also consider internal equity, prevailing market data, and specific contractual or funding requirements to ensure competitive and equitable offer alignment.
