Position Title: Project Financial Controller (Real Estate Development)

Salary: $130,000-$150,000

Location: Lehi, UT; Travel to projects as needed

Position Summary:

Reef is seeking a Financial Controller to oversee project-level financial management, reporting, and accounting operations within our development project portfolio. This role ensures financial accuracy and compliance, coordinates construction loan draws, and provides financial reporting to the development operations, general development finance, and corporate accounting teams.

The Financial Controller serves as the senior financial presence on the project team and is accountable for the financial integrity of all project expenditures and reports, providing the financial visibility that enables sound development decision-making.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee project-level financial reporting including monthly cost-to-complete, budget-to-actual, and cash flow reports
  • Ensures accuracy and timeliness of all financial data provided to Development Operations.
  • Manage preparation and submission of construction loan draw packages while ensuring all required documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with lender requirements.
  • Review and approve contractor and vendor invoices for accuracy, contractual compliance, and proper coding before forwarding payment.
  • Maintain project budget tracking; identify cost variances, scope changes, and risks; coordinate with the Development Operations Manager on budget-to-actual reconciliation.
  • Ensure all financial documentation is organized, compliant with financing agreements, and ready for audit
  • Coordinate lien waiver collection and compliance tracking.
  • Supervise Project Accountant(s) and AP Clerk(s) assigned to the project
  • Work closely with the Development Operations Manager, Sr. Development Controller, Cash Committee, and corporate accounting to ensure alignment on financial reporting and compliance.
