About the job:

Project Finance US - Canada

1. Summary of Responsibilities:

The Associate will be part of the team responsible for the origination, structuring, and execution of Project Finance deals in BBVA New York.

In line with this level position they will have to concentrate on tasks such as preparing presentations, monitoring internal pipelines but keeping an eye on more senior tasks such as documentation of executed deals and, specifically, running financial models of awarded transaction

2. List Major/Essential Job Duties:

- Helping more senior members of the team in underwriting, due diligence, and financial analysis of project finance opportunities in infrastructure and energy

- Maintenance and assistance with internal apps for both product and credit

- Preparation of market material for client pitches

- Preparation of Information Memos and Lender Presentations for lead role opportunities and coordination of bank meetings

- Helping more senior members of the team in management of the diligence process from a technical and legal standpoint and overseeing the structuring process through deal closing

- Portfolio management and information reporting on in process transactions and closed deals, including interaction with finance on fee recognition

3. Level of Complexity and Risk Involved:

There will be some moderately complex responsibilities in line with the project finance nature of their underlying responsibilities. Although they are not supposed to have detailed knowledge of the product or actual experience, they are supposed to quickly develop a strong understanding of underwriting and risk analysis; including coordination and interaction with other client and product groups within the bank.

4. Scope of Duties:

- Interaction with Madrid team.

- Maintenance of internal reports and their distribution to the appropriate areas.

- Understanding and development of financial modeling, financial statement analysis, derivative instruments

- Client meeting participation when practical

- Preparation and monitoring of the loan closing process

- Identification and use of research and tools

- Participation in due diligence and legal meetings

5. Skills, knowledge, and abilities/competencies:

- Degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance or related field

- 4+ years of experience working in corporate and/or investment banking related to Project Finance and/or experience in construction energy firms related to project finance is required

- Formal credit training a strong plus

- Fluent in English a must, preference for Spanish fluency

- Communication and presentation skills

- Ability to work in a team environment and under tight deadlines

- Understanding of financial statement analysis, financial modeling and DCF analysis

- Proficient in ALL Microsoft Office Tools

- Strong Excel and PowerPoint necessary, Bloomberg

With respect to this position in our New York Office, the expected base salary ranges from $115,000 to $130,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
