Full Job Description
RK&K is currently hiring a Water Resources Project Engineer in Baltimore, Maryland. As a Project Engineer at RK&K, you will support complex public and private sector water resources projects while collaborating with project managers, clients, and multidisciplinary teams of engineers and designers across our entire portfolio. Projects include but are not limited to: hydrologic & hydraulic modeling and design, stormwater BMPs and watershed management, low impact development / green infrastructure, environmental restoration and stabilization, construction administration, and MS4 program support.

Essential Functions
  • Apply technical acumen in the planning, design, and delivery of water resources engineering solutions for public and private sector clients
  • Support project managers in maintaining and strengthening client relationships and contributing to the growth of RK&K's water resources services
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers
  • Lead and/or support complex water resources engineering tasks including stream restoration, bank stabilization, scour analysis, stormwater systems, flood studies, watershed plans, and erosion/sediment control, in accordance with established scope, schedule, and budget
  • Deliver excellent client service with a strong focus on quality, accuracy, and timelines
  • Collaborate closely with design team members including project managers, engineers, technicians, drafters, surveyors, contractors, inspectors, public agency officials, and clients
  • Serve as a technical resource for civil engineering plan development and design reviews using AutoDesk Civil3D, MicroStation, InRoads, and GIS while applying local, state, and federal design standards
  • Provide office and site support during design and construction phases
  • Prepare technical analyses and permit applications for regulatory agencies addressing environmental issues associated with water resources projects
  • Support task planning, budget tracking, and coordination with subconsultants

Required Skills and Experience
  • Four (4) years of experience in environmental stormwater management, green infrastructure, and water resources engineering
  • Bachelor's Degree in civil or environmental engineering (or similar discipline)
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
  • Minimum two (2) years project design experience related to stream, floodplain, wetland, living shoreline, and stormwater management practices
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a high level of attention to detail and a collaborative, team oriented approach
  • Proficiency in preparation and review of design reports, construction plans, technical specifications, and estimates of probable costs
  • Stormwater infrastructure and floodplain analysis experience utilizing HECRAS and PCSWMM software
  • Proficiency in MicroStation, AutoCAD, and GIS

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Experience performing field work for geomorphic assessments, functional stream assessments, physical restoration monitoring, and environmental restoration construction administration
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) Registration or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment

Pay Range: $42.00-$47.00 per hour - Final compensation is based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
