About the Role:As a Project Engineer at DeSimone Consulting Engineering, you'll play a key role in the structural design process-supporting projects from concept through construction. This role offers hands-on experience with design and analysis tools, coordination with multidisciplinary teams, and opportunities to grow your technical expertise while learning project management fundamentals.
What You'll Do: - Perform structural analysis and design for a variety of building and infrastructure projects using industry-standard engineering software, including STAAD.Pro, RAM, ABAQUS, AutoCAD, and Revit.
- Prepare structural calculations, technical reports, engineering studies, and construction documents in accordance with project requirements and applicable building codes.
- Develop designs for steel, concrete, and other structural systems, including complex structures, crane girders, long-span framing, and connection designs.
- Coordinate closely with project managers, architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure efficient project execution and delivery.
- Review shop drawings, structural drawings, and design documents to identify discrepancies, ensure design intent is maintained, and support successful project outcomes.
- Maintain accurate records of engineering calculations, design decisions, project documentation, and quality control reviews.
- Assist Project Managers with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and the achievement of project milestones.
- Support construction administration activities by responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and helping resolve field and construction-related issues.
- Contribute to client relationship development by providing responsive service, participating in meetings, and supporting business development initiatives.
- Foster a collaborative team environment by sharing knowledge, supporting junior staff, and actively contributing to company culture and continuous improvement efforts.
What We're Looking For: - Master's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience performing structural analysis and design for building or industrial structures.
- Hands-on experience using structural engineering software such as STAAD.Pro, RAM, ABAQUS, AutoCAD, Revit, IDEA StatiCa, and RAM Connections.
- Strong understanding of structural modeling, loading analysis, finite element modeling, and preparation of structural calculations.
- Experience designing welded and bolted connections as well as complex steel structures, including crane girders and large-span framing systems.
- Knowledge of local and national building codes, industry standards, and structural design best practices.
- Ability to review and coordinate structural drawings, shop drawings, and construction documents with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate engineering challenges and develop practical solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
- EIT (Engineer in Training) certification required.
- PE (Professional Engineer) license preferred.

Minimum (Required) Qualifications:- Master's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or related field; and three (3) years of relevant experience in structural analysis and design utilizing software packages such as STAAD PRO, RAM, ABAQUS for Finite Element Modeling, AutoCAD.
- Three years of relevant experience in analyzing building structures using computer modeling methods and preparing structural calculations.
- Three years of experience with welded and bolted connection design utilizing commercial software such as IDEA Statica, RAM Connections, and Excel spreadsheets
- Three years of experience with complex steel structures including crane girders and large spans
- Three years of experience with generating structural drawing set using AutoCAD and REVIT.
- EIT (Engineer in Training) certification.
Minimum (Required) Skills: - Extensive knowledge of local and national building codes and design practices.
- Knowledge of standard construction practices and the ability to work with contractors to address construction issues.
- Demonstrates satisfactory performance of structural modeling, loading calculations, and understanding and solving basic engineering equations found in current building codes.
- Review structural and shop drawings for correct dimensions, member sizes, material takeoffs, and back check work received from drafting team. Exhibits an ability to use CAD and move easily between various engineering programs currently in use, as well as adapt to new programs on the market.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail oriented with strong interpersonal, problem solving and team skills.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills: - PE (Professional Engineer) license.

This is a salaried, exempt position with an anticipated base salary range of $95,700-$101,750, depending on experience and qualifications. Most candidates are typically hired near the midpoint of the range, ensuring a balanced and equitable approach across our team.That said, we recognize exceptional talent. In cases where a candidate brings significantly more experience or specialized expertise than required, we may consider an offer toward the higher end of the range.
