Full Job Description
The Project Engineer II is responsible for ensuring the smooth implementation and execution of engineering projects across all services offered by Holtec International. The Project Engineer II serves as the primary engineering interface with external parties, develops various technical products within their area of expertise, and assists with coordination of project deliverables to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet required quality standards. This role involves a combination of technical expertise, organizational proficiency, and effective communication skills.

Location: Camden, NJ

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary engineering point of contact for assigned projects, interfacing with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and support multidisciplinary engineering activities to ensure project objectives, schedules, budgets, and quality requirements are achieved.
  • Develop, review, and approve engineering calculations, technical analyses, design packages, specifications, drawings, and other project documentation.
  • Perform engineering evaluations related to mechanical systems, thermal-hydraulic performance, structural integrity, and other technical areas within assigned projects.
  • Support project planning activities including scope development, schedule management, resource coordination, risk identification, and issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with design, licensing, quality assurance, procurement, manufacturing, and project management teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations, reports, design reviews, and project status updates to management, customers, and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Provide technical direction and guidance to junior engineers and support personnel as required.
  • Support vendor oversight activities, including technical reviews, equipment evaluations, factory acceptance testing, and resolution of technical issues.
  • Ensure engineering products comply with applicable codes, standards, regulatory requirements, company procedures, and customer specifications.
  • Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, troubleshooting efforts, and root cause evaluations to support project success.
  • Support nuclear licensing and regulatory activities, including preparation and review of technical documentation required for plant modifications, safety evaluations, and regulatory submittals.
  • Coordinate project deliverables across multiple engineering disciplines and track progress to ensure milestones are achieved on schedule.
  • Utilize engineering software and analytical tools such as MATLAB, MathCAD, SolidWorks, and other industry-standard applications to perform design and analysis activities.
  • Travel to customer sites, vendor facilities, manufacturing locations, and nuclear power plant sites to support project execution, testing, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Promote a strong nuclear safety culture and maintain adherence to quality assurance, safety, and procedural requirements at all times.


Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, nuclear, or related engineering discipline, or graduate of the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.
  • Ability to travel between company, vendor, and client sites as required in U.S. and abroad.
  • Ability to obtain nuclear power plant access as required.
  • Excellent attention to detail and capable of producing error-free documents.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent math, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of applied mechanics and heat transfer principles.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and complete work in a timely fashion with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with engineering software tools such as MATLAB, MathCAD, and SolidWorks
  • U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent resident status.
  • 5-10 years relevant industry experience
  • Previous nuclear power plant experience including responsible engineer qualification per the standard design process (IP-ENG-100) preferred
  • 50.59/72.48 qualification preferred


Compensation:

Annual compensation based on skills and experience ranging from $110,000 - $130,000
