Full Job Description
Garver is seeking a Project Engineer to join our growing Transportation Team in San Antonio, TX to continue the tradition of providing quality service to our clients.

Responsibilities in this position will include:
  • Leading the engineering design of roadway projects for state and local DOTs.
  • Coordinating design with other disciplines and subconsultants.
  • Communicating with the project manager on deliverables, schedules, and budgets.
  • Preparing design schematics in collaboration with environmental task leaders and other team members, consistent with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
  • Preparing plans, specifications, cost estimates, reports, and calculations necessary for a complete deliverable package to the client.
  • Interacting with the client, including preparing communications and other documentation.
  • Mentoring and training younger engineers on roadway design.
  • Serving as a Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) Subject Matter Expert (SME) for reviewing deliverables.
  • Assisting the Business Team Leader and Project Manager with marketing efforts, including proposal writing, client interaction, and public engagements.

Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas or ability to obtain license through reciprocity.
  • Professional interpersonal and leadership skills, including a willingness to learn and be coached by a mentor.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledgeable in the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Project Development Process (PDP)
  • Five (5) to ten (10) years of relevant transportation design experience that includes technical knowledge of roadway design with sufficient knowledge of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Green Book, the AASHTO Roadside Design Guide, the Manual Uniform Traffic Control Device (MUTCD), TxDOT Roadway Design Manual, TxDOT Standards, Details, and Specifications, and the Department of Justice ADA Standards for Accessible Design (ADAAG/PROWAG) Guidelines.
  • Ability to lead a design team to meet a deliverable schedule within a defined budget.
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) proficiency.

Preferred Skills
  • Previous experience as a consultant working with TxDOT and county/municipal clients on transportation projects.
  • Bentley OpenRoads Designer proficiency.
  • Experience in preparing fee proposal hour estimates.
