We have an opening in our Operations & Engineering department for an Project Engineer.

Job Description

The Project Engineer is responsible for providing excellent service to our customers, shareholders and employees by preparing specifications, estimates and overseeing the development of plans, layouts, details and assisting in the oversight of construction for a wide range of waterworks operations.

The Project Engineer performs a variety of duties. Tasks include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide technical advice to industrial or managerial personnel regarding design, construction, or program modifications or structural repairs
  • Performs field inspections and survey work to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety or sanitation standards.
  • Conduct feasibility studies for the construction of facilities, such as water supply systems and water treatment plants.
  • Assists in the design of pumping and treatment systems, pumping stations, pipelines and mains.
  • Identify design alternatives for the development of new water resources.
  • Design water pumping stations,
  • Assist in (typ.) design and permitting of new water wells.
  • Perform hydraulic analyses of water supply systems or water distribution networks to model flow characteristics, test for pressure losses, or to identify opportunities to mitigate risks and improve operational efficiency.
  • Gather and analyze water use data.
  • Design water storage tanks or other water storage facilities.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses for the construction of water supply systems, water pumping systems and water treatment plants.
  • Review and critique proposals, plans, or designs related to water systems.
  • Provide key input on GIS system as a part of a larger initiative to implement a comprehensive asset management system.
  • Assist with the design and drawing of water distribution system construction projects.
  • Assist in the development of technical reports or publications related to water resources development or water use efficiency.
  • Prepare or present public reports on topics such as bid proposals, deeds, environmental impact statements, or property and right-of-way descriptions.
  • Assist and respond to questions of other engineering and operational personnel.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Civil or Environmental engineering or other related fields
  • Professional Engineering licensure in Connecticut, or Engineering in Training, E.I.T. certification and 5 years related professional experience required
  • Project Management skills preferred
  • Hydraulic and Design skills preferred
  • Computer aided design CAD software; AutoCAD skillset preferred
  • Must have General Office Software skillset
