Please note: The central office is located in Alexandria, with projects located within the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia (DMV).

Job Summary

As Project Engineer reporting to the Project Manager, you will ensure that our heavy civil projects remain on schedule and within budget by: monitoring and analyze cost data, managing subcontractor activity and deliverables, and verifying compliance regarding quality and health and safety standards. Your skills in resource tracking and management, together with your construction expertise in site development and earthwork utility, will help maintain smooth and efficient project operations.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with engineering and field crews to review production schedule and confirm all materials, equipment and resources.
  • Manage subcontractors and coordinate subcontractor work methods, schedule and crews as needed.
  • Review all shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements and project data.
  • Provides technical input for project work plan and scheduling.
  • Identify risk elements of production, materials, equipment or process that could negatively impact the budget or schedule.
  • Evaluate daily production, schedule and budget projections to accurately track project performance.
  • Update project schedule monthly for owner and management reporting.
  • Prepare and manage a three-week work plan. Notify engineering and project management of any significant schedule changes and develops solutions to mitigate delays and cost.
  • Initiate and manage all Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Remit accurate project quantities using assigned project cost coding to ensure project financials are accurately reported.
  • Manage invoicing with accounting team regarding materials, equipment and subcontractor needs.
  • Review certificates and permits needed to perform work.
  • Review required Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) to ensure a safe and compliance work environment for all construction personnel.


Qualifications required

Education
• Bachelor's Degree in a related field.

Certifications/licenses
• EIT

Experience and Knowledge
• 3-5 years experience working for a General Contractor.

Core Competencies
• Earthworks and site development experience is required.
• Data center construction experience is an asset.
• Knowledge of construction project management
• Technical knowledge - Means and Method in different type of Heavy Civil construction.
• Knowledge of construction scheduling and production time management.

Computer Skills

  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office including MS Project
  • Primavera P6
  • Familiarity with construction/ project management software including AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Bluebeam and HECRAS


Safety Training

  • OSHA 10 and OSHA 30

  • Mobility: future projects will be located within the DMV, requiring some travel.
