Boston Government Services (BGS) is seeking a Project Engineer to support our clients at the Y12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

Where You'll Work:

The Y12 National Security Complex located in Oak Ridge, TN, plays a vital role in the U.S. Department of Energy's Nuclear Security Enterprise. Y-12 provides manufacturing, technical, and scientific expertise to produce components, subassemblies, and quality evaluations to sustain a U.S. nuclear deterrent; reduce the threat from weapons of mass destruction; supply nuclear material to the Naval Reactors Program; and provide solutions to other emerging national security challenges. Y-12 has developed state-of-the-art capabilities in three core areas: nuclear technology and materials, security and consequence management, and manufacturing and technical services. Y-12 lends its specialized expertise to other federal agencies, such as the U.S. Departments of Defense and Homeland Security, state and local governments, and private-sector companies. Projects at Y-12 include providing protective equipment to soldiers in combat, training National Guard units for radiological emergencies, and creating machining platforms that improve production and efficiency.

About the Role:

The Project Engineer will provide support and coordination for various projects across one but not limited to; Commercial, Infrastructure, Production Modernization, and/or Production Stockpile projects.

Responsibilities:

• Provide Project Engineering support necessary to complete planning, design and implementation of new machine tools and/or infrastructure upgrades.
• Provide technical integration, leadership, guidance, and direction to other multi-disciplined engineering teams as requested for high profile plant initiatives.
• Will appropriately apply ASME Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA-1) requirements for work in nuclear facilities
• Plan and direct the engineering activities on projects.
• Establish detailed project design scope, budgets, and schedules.
• Professionally coordinate engineering efforts with Production, Maintenance, Project Management, Construction, Startup, and Project Controls personnel.
• Review project engineering progress against approved schedules and take corrective action when required.

Requirements:

• BA/BS Degree from an ABET accredited school in a technical discipline, plus 10 years or more of direct experience required, or an MA or MS with 10 plus years of experience.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Successful drug screening.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge.
• Requires a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status.

Location/Work Arrangement:

• This position is a fully onsite position at the Y12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
• Typical work schedule will be Mon.-Thur. 10-hour days (4/10 schedule).
