Position Summary:The Project Engineer is responsible for leading engineering and process improvement projects from concept through execution while driving process improvements across operations. This role combines technical project management with continuous improvement methodologies to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product and process quality. This position will be responsible for all project phases, from project scope development through project execution. Will be an active member of the new product teams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Project Planning & Execution- Define project scope, goals, and deliverables.
- Capital Expense Management from Scoping to approval process.
- Develop detailed project schedules and resource plans.
- Collaborate & coordinate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, engineering & maintenance, safety & quality, supply chain and Packaging Development.
Technical Support & Oversight- Provide engineering support and technical guidance. Provide hands-on technical support and troubleshooting during project implementation.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
- Review and approve technical drawings, specifications, and documentation.
- Develop and maintain project documentation including scope, schedules, budgets, and technical specifications.
Budget & Cost Control- Monitor project budgets and control costs.
- Prepare cost estimates and track expenditures.
Risk Management- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies. Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Ensure timely resolution of technical and logistical issues.
Stakeholder Communication- Report project status to management and stakeholders.
- Facilitate meetings and ensure alignment across teams.
Data-Driven Improvements- Collect and analyze performance data (e.g., cycle time, defect rates).
- Develop KPIs and dashboards to monitor progress.
- Monitors key operational metrics, recommends and implements changes to drive continuous improvement.
Change Management- Collaborate with teams to implement process changes.
- Train staff on new procedures and ensure adoption.
Sustainability & Standardization- Document best practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure improvements are sustained over time.
Qualifications/Experience: - Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical).
- 5+ years of experience in project engineering or manufacturing.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Must have strong technical problem solving skills; mechanical aptitude; good project management skills for developing scope and implementing changes in plants or processes
- Proficiency in computer applications including CAD.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work with cross functional teams and across organizational levels.
- Proficiency in project management tools and data analysis software (e.g., MS Project, Excel, Minitab).
- Up to 20% travel on projects related to business.
