About the Position

The Project Director, Evaluation Strategy and Analytics will lead the development, monitoring, and evaluation of the Powerful Learning team's data strategies, evaluation frameworks, and performance metrics. A primary focus of this role is demonstrating the overarching efficacy of our work, research, pilots, and services through rigorous data frameworks, automated dashboards, and academic-grade reports. This individual will serve as a liaison to internal teams, external research partners, and funders to ensure alignment between strategy, operations, and outcomes. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in applied research methods, data visualization, and data strategy to elevate our impact on the K-12 community.

Responsibilities

Research Design & Impact Efficacy

  • Design theory of change and logic models that clearly map inputs, activities, and outputs to define KPIs, implementation fidelity, and ROI tracking across various pilots, services, and research initiatives.
  • Lead research design for the team, including the development of longitudinal studies and control groups to demonstrate measurable and sustainable growth and prove the efficacy of our general work and programmatic interventions.
  • Serve as the primary research liaison (e.g., for Verizon Innovative Learning Schools and other partners) to develop strategies informed by programmatic goals and outcomes.
  • Implement internal evaluation systems to assess program fidelity, implementation quality, and internal operational effectiveness for new pilots and ongoing services.

Data Strategy & Automated Dashboards

  • Develop self-serve dashboards (Tableau, Power BI) to monitor the organization's performance, operational health, and key outcomes across all research and service portfolios.
  • Streamline and automate data collection pipelines utilizing SQL and advanced survey tools (e.g., Qualtrics).
  • Collaborate on data strategies for building extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) pipelines that are scalable, cost-effective, and capable of real-time reporting.
  • Ensure the compliance of all software and tools with Digital Promise's data security and privacy guidelines.

Statistical Analysis & Reporting

  • Conduct complex statistical analysis utilizing R, Python, and/or SPSS to measure the efficacy of pilots and services, and to identify broader educational trends.
  • Produce academic-grade reports and technical writing required for grant compliance and institutional stakeholders, supporting annual proposals and continued funding efforts.
  • Convert complex statistical findings into pitch-ready metrics and engaging visualizations for Business Development and Partnerships to drive organizational growth and showcase the impact of our work.
  • Identify performance gaps and leverage evaluation insights to inform the continuous innovation process across Powerful Learning programming and services.

OKR & Performance Management

  • Facilitate the development, alignment, and tracking of OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) across teams to ensure strategic objectives are achieved.
  • Monitor quantitative and qualitative performance indicators to support external evaluations and internal continuous improvement.

Project Management

  • Effectively manages competing priorities, oversees external contractors and leads projects with a strict focus on quality, timelines, and adapting to changing needs.
  • Proactively keeps stakeholders informed, mitigates risks, and motivates cross-functional teams to achieve project milestones and advance Digital Promise's equity goals.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • A Bachelor's degree in information systems, statistics, data science, mathematics, or a related field is required (Master's degree preferred).
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in strategic planning, data science, performance measurement, or evaluation frameworks.
  • Experience working with data warehouses, data transformation tools, and writing technical documentation.
  • Exceptional project management skills with knowledge of K-12 school technology systems, applicable data privacy practices/laws, and tools like Asana, Salesforce, and Microsoft/Google suites.

Technical & Analytical Skills

  • Statistical Analysis: Strong proficiency in statistical programming and analysis utilizing R, Python, and/or SPSS.
  • Research Design: Proven background in advanced research methods, including longitudinal studies and control groups.
  • Data Visualization & BI: Extensive experience building self-serve, interactive dashboards using Tableau and Microsoft Power BI (Google Data Studio/Grafana a plus).
  • Database & Collection: Experience streamlining data collection using SQL and survey tools (Qualtrics preferred); understanding of relational databases (MySQL, Google BigQuery) and API integrations.
  • Evaluation Frameworks: Deep knowledge of logic models, ROI tracking, implementation fidelity, and OKR methodologies.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Technical Writing: Exceptional ability to produce academic-grade reports and technical writing for grant compliance.
  • Translation & Pitching: Proven ability to translate complex data and statistical findings into pitch-ready insights for Business Development, Partnerships, and non-technical stakeholders.

Working Conditions

Digital Promise Global is a hybrid organization. Employees are expected to travel at least 4 times a year for in-person meetings and the annual staff retreat. Additional travel may be required based on role and responsibilities.

Compensation

We consider candidate experience and location when determining where a candidate may fall within that range. Digital Promise Global offers a competitive total rewards package including coverage of 85% of health insurance premiums for employee coverage and 75% of health insurance premiums for dependent and family coverage, 15 vacation days, 12 sick days, 3% 401k employer contribution, 3% employer 401k match, and a flexible work environment.

The full-time salary range for the position is based on geographical regions, with exact salary depending on relevant experience.

California: $132,821-$144,541

DC Metro Area & NYC: $120,747-$131,401

National: $108,672-$118,261
