OverviewAsProject Counsel 6 Large Projects, youll play a key role in your assigned project(s). Your work will help guide project execution, and strengthen the legal frameworks that support complex, highimpact infrastructure projects. As a project counsel you will be embedded with the project and are expected to become an integral member of the project team, providing day-to-day counsel on any variety of issues that arise.
What you will be doing
- Provide strategic, hands-on legal counsel across all project phases, ensuring compliance with the relevant contracts and effective risk mitigation.
- Collaborate with commercial teams, project managers, and executive leadership to align legal strategies with business objectives.
- Act as the primary legal resource on assigned projects, interpreting contracts and responding to legal inquiries.
- Draft, review and negotiate contracts and related agreements, including prime contract amendments and change orders, subcontracts, and purchase orders, among other agreements attendant to project execution.
- Engage with external stakeholders9clients, delivery partners, and government agenciesto support project success.
- Identify risks, propose mitigation strategies, and advance resolution of risks working, as the particular risk may require, with outside counsel and consultants.
- Support dispute resolution and claims management with a solutions-driven approch, including management of out side counsel and consultants.
What we are looking for
- Licensed to practice law in the United States, and either already barred in the state of Hawaii or willing to take the Hawaii bar within six months of hire.
- At least five years experience in construction law, with a preference for time split between time working for a firm or the Government and as in-house counsel at a construction or engineering company. Non-construction law experience coupled with time working in a non-legal role (e.g., engineer or project controls) in a construction or engineering company will also be considered.
- Demonstrated ability to manage the legal aspects of construction projects from claims and litigation to subcontracting and compliance.
- Strong understanding of the Federal Acquisition Regulations, with prior experience on DOD/DOW construction projects preferred.
- Comfortable navigating complex stakeholder groups and providing decisive legal guidance.
- Strong communication (written and verbal) and people skills, including ability to work across cultures and maintain business/client relationships during all stages of project execution.
- Knowledge of insurance and risk management programs for construction mega projects including Builders9 Risk and Professional Liability
- Able to work independently and under tight deadlines.

Salary MinUSD $170,000.00/Yr.
