Job Summary/Objective:

The Project Controls Manager is responsible for driving financial performance and operational execution across a portfolio of projects. This role ensures accurate revenue recognition, maintains project-level financial integrity, and partners closely with Project Managers (PMs) and business leaders to provide real-time financial insights. The Project Controls Manager serves as a key connection point between project execution and financial outcomes, supporting both compliance and profitability.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Manage financial performance across project portfolio, including revenue, cost, and margin
• Partner with PMs to validate job level financial transactions including expenses, time and labor, estimated margins and milestones.
• Apply ASC 606 framework to ensure accurate and compliant revenue recognition
• Lead weekly project financial reviews with PMs and operations leaders to assess project health
• Identify and communicate project risks (delays, margin erosion) and opportunities (early completion, upside revenue)
• Own monthly revenue close process, including revenue journal entries, accruals, deferrals, and contract asset/liability accounting
• Review and manage over/under-billed positions and maintain accrual and deferral schedules
• Ensure accuracy, integrity, and audit readiness of all project-related financial data
• Provide variance analysis and actionable insights to support business decisions
• Establish and maintain strong revenue recognition controls and support audit requirements
• Partner with business unit leaders to articulate financial performance, key drivers, risks, and opportunities
• Drive process improvements across forecasting, reporting, and financial controls
• Serve as a player-coach leader by mentoring Project Controls Analysts while remaining actively involved in day-to-day operational and financial project controls activities
• Support ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed

Minimum Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA preferred
• 7+ years of experience in revenue accounting, project finance, or project-based environments (telecom, construction, infrastructure, etc.)
• Must have experience with POC and Milestone based accounting models. High volume, quick-turn project experience a plus. -

Preferred and Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
• Strong knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition standards
• Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and project tracking systems
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with data visualization tools (Power BI preferred)
• Experience supporting financial close processes, including accruals and deferrals

Work Environment/Physical Demands/Travel Required:
• This will be an office-based role
• Ability to work cross-functionally with finance, operations, and project teams
• Occasional travel to offices or project sites may be required
