Full Job Description
Project Controller to serve as the primary financial lead for the Doppelmayr Cable Car Newark Airport Project. Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, this position will be responsible for comprehensive project financial management, cost control, budgeting, forecasting, invoicing, cash flow monitoring, contract administration, and financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle.

The Project Controller will act as the central point of contact for all project-related financial matters, coordinating closely with project management, suppliers, customers, accounting teams, and related Doppelmayr subsidiaries.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Financial Project Management
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all project-related financial matters involving management, project teams, suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Establish, maintain, and continuously improve project cost control and financial reporting processes.
  • Prepare, maintain, and update all internal project financial documentation.
  • Develop and monitor project budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections, and monthly liquidity plans.
  • Analyze project financial performance and provide regular reporting to project management and leadership.
  • Identify, investigate, and explain budget variances and recommend corrective actions.
  • Escalate critical financial risks, cost overruns, and commercial issues to management in a timely manner.

Contract Administration and Commercial Management
  • Develop a thorough understanding of all project contracts, supplier agreements, change orders, scope documents, and commercial obligations.
  • Monitor contractual milestones and coordinate with project management to ensure accurate and timely customer invoicing.
  • Review supplier contract requirements, payment milestones, and invoicing to ensure compliance with contractual terms.
  • Track contract performance and identify potential commercial or financial risks.
  • Support change order management and evaluate financial impacts associated with scope modifications.

Cost Control and Supplier Management
  • Monitor project expenditures and maintain accurate cost forecasts.
  • Administer suppliers and subcontractors within the project ERP system, including purchase order creation, monitoring, approvals, and reconciliation.
  • Review supplier invoices and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with contractual and project requirements.
  • Monitor payment schedules and proactively resolve issues that may impact project cash flow or financial performance.
  • Coordinate closely with accounting and project management teams regarding supplier commitments and costs.

Project Reporting and Financial Analysis
  • Prepare monthly financial reports, dashboards, forecasts, variance analyses, and executive summaries.
  • Monitor project performance against approved budgets and financial objectives.
  • Prepare ad hoc financial analyses and management reports as required.
  • Participate in project review meetings and present financial status updates to project leadership.
  • Support project audits and management reviews as needed.

Coordination and Stakeholder Support
  • Work closely with the Project Manager to understand project schedules and assess financial impacts related to schedule changes.
  • Coordinate with accounting teams and project personnel across multiple countries and business units.
  • Support the preparation of financial information required for corporate reporting and local statutory financial statements.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with customers, suppliers, project teams, and executive management.

Qualifications:

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of project controlling, project accounting, or project finance experience.
  • Experience supporting large-scale engineering, construction, transportation, infrastructure, manufacturing, or EPC projects strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with international project teams and multinational organizations preferred.
  • Experience with contract administration, budgeting, forecasting, and project cost controls required.

Technical Skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP systems (IFS, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).
  • Understanding of project accounting principles, cost reporting, and financial analysis.
  • Familiarity with project scheduling and cash flow modeling.
