The Project Controller manages the financial aspects of assigned projects, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. This role partners closely with Project Managers and cross-functional teams to monitor budgets, analyze financial performance, and deliver actionable insights to support project success.
What You'll Do
Financial Management & Reporting
- Serve as the financial liaison for assigned projects, supporting Project Management with accurate and timely reporting.
- Oversee project accounting activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and tracking actual costs against budgets.
- Prepare detailed financial reports on project performance in alignment with accounting standards.
- Manage project-related billing processes and perform reconciliations.
Financial Analysis
- Analyze project costs, identify variances, and provide detailed explanations to stakeholders.
- Compile and evaluate financial data to support operational decision-making.
- Perform return-on-investment analyses for capital expenditures and provide recommendations.
Compliance & Process Improvement
- Ensure all project financial activities adhere to company policies, accounting principles, and regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate and improve project accounting processes to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
Risk Management
- Identify financial risks associated with projects and recommend mitigation strategies.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with project managers and cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
- Communicate with customers regarding billing, costs, and audit requests.
- Represent the organization professionally, upholding high standards of integrity and ethics.

What You'll Bring
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong understanding of project accounting principles, including budgeting, forecasting, job cost tracking, revenue recognition, and financial reporting.
- Experience supporting Project Managers with cost-to-complete forecasting, project financial reviews, and analysis of project performance.
- Ability to identify, analyze, and communicate project-related financial risks, including productivity, labor, material, and cost impacts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable recommendations.
- High level of attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with project teams while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of integrity and professionalism in handling sensitive financial information.
Demonstrated Accomplishments
- Experience managing and tracking change orders, risks, and events throughout the project lifecycle, including evaluating financial impacts and assisting project teams with documentation and reporting.
- Proven ability to support project financial health through cost analysis, forecasting, and proactive identification of project risks and opportunities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite, including financial modeling, reporting, and data analysis.
- Experience partnering with Project Managers and Operations teams to support project execution and financial success.
- Knowledge of construction project accounting systems and financial reporting tools preferred.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Project accounting experience within construction, engineering, specialty contracting, or a related project-based industry preferred.
- Direct experience supporting large-scale construction projects, including involvement in change order management, project forecasting, and cost-to-complete analysis.
- Experience identifying and monitoring project risks related to labor productivity, materials, subcontractors, and budget performance.
- Experience supporting mission critical, data center, industrial, or other complex construction projects is a plus but not required.
What You'll Get
Working Conditions:
The majority of the time you will work in a typical office environment. Occasionally, you may travel to a construction job site. When on construction job sites you will encounter typical construction conditions including extreme temperatures, noise, dust, mud debris, welding, leading edge, trenching, and shoring, sometimes in a confined space. You may be required to visit multiple locations during any one day.

Salary Range: $85,000 - $115,000
*Final salary and rates are based on education, experience, skills relevant to the role, and internal equity.*
