Responsibilities

Full Job Description
The Phoenix office of SmithGroup is looking for a Project Architect - Interiors to join our Corporate, Commercial and Civic Interior Design team.

Working with us, you will:
  • Lead the CCC Interior Design Studio in technical development and oversight working closely with interior designers, design architects, technical architects and owners in development of documentation for owner approval and permitting.
  • Supervise, prepare, coordinate, and complete construction documents packages per SmithGroup standards with a focus on life safety and technical detailing for multiple small to medium-scale Interior Design projects.
  • Lead day-to-day construction administration activities including coordination with the contractor, owner, and consultants to maintain project progress.
  • Mentor, provide oversight, and monitor the work performed by junior staff.
  • Establish and execute project work plan and staffing requirements.
  • Develop trusted relationships with clients.
  • Participate in recruiting and performance management of staff.
  • Conduct quality control review of projects and enforce guidelines.
  • Seal and sign construction documents.


An ideal candidate has:
  • A bachelor's degree in Architecture or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience.
  • LEED AP preferred. Architectural Registration required.
  • Ability to successfully engage with professionals in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with clients and build client relationships and trust.
  • Strong mentoring, written and verbal communication and organizational skills, facilitating the development of trusted relationships with clients and staff.
  • Proficient with Revit and SketchUp.
  • Experience writing specifications.
  • Experience leading other architects and project teams.
  • Demonstrated understanding of code implementation and jurisdiction review.
  • Demonstrated understanding of construction practices and methodologies.
