Job Summary:

We're seeking a Project Architect with strong housing and multifamily experience to join our team in North Carolina. This role is ideal for a technically strong architect who enjoys owning documentation quality, coordinating consultants, and seeing housing projects through from design development to construction.

T

he Project Architect will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to plan, design, and deliver new buildings, renovations, and additions that align with client goals, design intent, and budget realities. This position offers meaningful technical ownership, mentorship opportunities, and exposure to complex housing projects.

Direct Supervisor:

Studio Lead

Supervisory Responsibilities:

May direct and mentor Architectural Designer 1-3.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Lead and contribute to the preparation of drawings and specifications across schematic design, design development, and construction documents, with a focus on housing and multifamily projects.
  • Own key technical aspects of assigned projects, including investigation, evaluation, and recommendation of design solutions that support constructability, efficiency, and design intent.
  • Coordinate architectural work with consultants (structural, MEP, civil) to ensure seamless integration.
  • Develop detailed plans that incorporate engineering, electrical, and HVAC systems.
  • Participate in client and consultant meetings; support project communication and documentation, including meeting minutes and scope updates.
  • Maintain technical quality, completeness, and accuracy of construction documents.
  • Assist with material and product research and specification coordination.
  • Collaborate closely with highly integrated, multi-disciplinary design teams.
  • Support construction phase services as needed, identifying and resolving technical issues.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit and construction document production.
  • Strong understanding of building systems, housing typologies, and construction methods.
  • Ability to translate client and design concepts into well-coordinated technical solutions.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

  • Preferred exposure to multifamily, mixed-use, or student housing experience.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of professional architectural experience, with a strong preference for housing or multifamily work.
  • Architectural licensure preferred (or actively working toward licensure).

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds as needed.
