Job Title: Program Officer
Location: San Francisco, CA : Hybrid 2 days onsite
Employment type : Fulltime/Direct Hire
Our client is seeking a Program Officer to support a childcare facilities funding program focused on expanding access to safe, high-quality environments for children and families throughout Sonoma County.
This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organized, relationship-driven professional who enjoys grant management, community engagement, technical assistance, and project coordination. You'll work directly with child care providers and community partners to help turn facility improvement needs into successful projects.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Grant Management

  • Manage a portfolio of facility improvement grants for child care centers and family child care homes.
  • Oversee grants from application review through funding, monitoring, and closeout.
  • Review applications for eligibility, readiness, compliance, and program fit.
  • Track project timelines, budgets, funding activity, and reporting requirements.
  • Conduct virtual and onsite project visits.
  • Prepare grant recommendations, presentations, and status reports.
Provider Support & Technical Assistance
  • Advise child care providers on facility improvements, renovations, health and safety, licensing, and business planning.
  • Help providers navigate permitting, zoning, and regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitate trainings and workshops and develop practical provider resources.
Program & Community Engagement
  • Maintain program data and track outcomes, milestones, and performance metrics.
  • Support reporting to leadership, funders, and stakeholders.
  • Build relationships with local agencies, community organizations, licensing entities, and government partners.
  • Represent the program at meetings and community events.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Public Administration, Business, Planning, Architecture, Finance, Operations, or a related field.
  • Experience in child care, grants, nonprofit/community programs, or a related area.
  • Experience with training, technical assistance, consulting, or program support.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and cloud-based systems; Salesforce is a plus.
  • Knowledge of child care licensing, facility planning, construction, or community development is preferred.
  • Spanish bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Ability to travel within California for site visits and meetings.
