Primary Duties and
Responsibilities:


Position purpose: Chair of the School ofPhysical Therapy

Strategic Leadership - Set the vision, goals, andstrategic priorities for the School of Physical Therapy, aligning with CPHSpriorities and working closely with the Dean, Associate Deans, Vice Chair, andDirector of Clinical Education.

Shared Governance - Lead School governance throughcollaborative, inclusive planning; conduct School meetings; and implementlong-range programs, plans, and policies.

Curriculum & Program Development - Oversee curriculum design, coursescheduling, program review, and support accreditation processes in partnershipwith the Assistant Dean of Assessment and Accreditation.

Faculty & Staff Leadership - Supervise, evaluate, and mentor facultyand staff; manage workloads, professional development plans, annual reviews,and promotion/tenure recommendations.

Student Recruitment & Retention - Lead recruitment and retentionstrategy for the program, staying current on best practices and partnering withthe AD for Student Success and Formation.

Clinical Practice Partnerships - Establish and maintain clinicalpractice agreements and site relationships, ensuring clear expectations,revenue tracking, and timely issue resolution.

Financial Management - Prepare and administer the School's budget,pursue outside funding, and align spending with strategic and revenuepriorities.

Facilities & Resource Management - Oversee physical space, equipmentinventory, security, and maintenance needs for the School.

Communication & External Representation - Lead internal and externalcommunications (newsletters, reports, media) and represent the School tooutside institutions and organizations.

Fundraising & Development - Partner with the Dean and CPHSDevelopment team on fundraising strategy, campaign execution, and donorrelationship management.

  • Complete equivalent of 18 workload hours per academic year.
  • Teach in the entry-level DPT program
  • Advise and mentor students in research and other class-related projects.

    Required Education
    Academic doctorate required; PT degree with preferred ABPTS specialty certification. Eligible for Tennessee Physical Therapy license.

    Required Experience
    Holds an active, unencumbered PT license and is in compliance with the state practice act . • Has an earned academic doctoral degree • Has a minimum of six years of full-time higher education experience, with a minimum of three years of full-time experience as a core faculty member in a CAPTE-accredited entry-level physical therapist education program. • Has experience/professional development/education in administration, management, and leadership. Experience and professional development derived from the clinic is acceptable. • Professional development and/or education in all of the following: educational theory and methodology, instructional design, student evaluation, and outcome assessment. • Has experience in fiscal management. Experience derived from the clinic is acceptable. • Has experience or formal training in program evaluation, assessment, and curriculum development. • Is familiar with CAPTE accreditation requirements and has experience with other accreditation and/or regulatory agencies. Experience derived from the clinic is acceptable. • Has prior engagement at the academy/academic institutional level
