Position Overview:
The Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at Merrimack College invites applications for a full-time, open rank non-tenure track faculty position to serve as Program Director of the new Graduate Program in Industrial/Organizational (I/O) Psychology, beginning Fall 2027.
This position is a 9-month appointment including teaching and administrative responsibilities. The successful candidate will teach 12 credit hours per semester in the I/O graduate program and undergraduate psychology curriculum, while providing leadership and direction for the growth of the new graduate program.
Responsibilities
- Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and related areas;
- Provide academic leadership as the Program Director, including but not limited to curriculum development, program assessment, and accreditation preparation;
- Partner with graduate admissions and marketing to recruit, mentor, and advise graduate students in the I/O program;
- Collaborate with faculty, administration, and industry partners to expand internship, practicum, and applied research opportunities;
- Support program growth and innovation through outreach, marketing, and community partnerships; and
- Participate in departmental, school, and college service.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology or closely related fields (ABD candidates with expected completion before August 2027 will be considered).
- Commitment to teaching excellence at the graduate and/or undergraduate level.
- Demonstrated administrative or leadership experience, preferably in higher education or program development.
- Active engagement in the field of I/O Psychology (e.g., applied practice, research, consulting).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing and/or directing graduate programs.
- Applied industry experience in I/O Psychology.
- Commitment to building partnerships with external organizations for internships, training, or applied research.
- Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration, particularly in developing partnerships and initiatives with business school programs and faculty.
- Interest in the evolving role of technology in the workplace, including how emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence will shape the future of work, organizations, and workforce development.

Compensation
The expected 9-month base salary range (paid over 12 months) for the Assistant Professor of Practice is $78,000-$90,000; for the Associate Professor of Practice is $90,000-$100,000. The actual pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as, but not limited to, candidate qualifications and prior experience, scope of responsibilities, internal equity, and market considerations.
Work Location
This position may be performed fully on campus or in a remote capacity, with occasional
on-campus work as needed and determined in coordination with the supervisor.
