Full Job Description
JOB SUMMARY

The Professional Land Surveyor will provide technical oversight, project leadership, quality assurance, and professional direction for a wide variety of surveying projects. The successful candidate will work closely with field crews, survey technicians, project managers, and clients to deliver accurate and defensible survey products.

This position requires a licensed Professional Land Surveyor with a four-year surveying degree and the ability to obtain professional licensure in additional states through reciprocity/comity.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical surveying knowledge and the ability to mentor survey staff while supporting continued company growth throughout the United States.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES OF THE JOB

Professional Practice
  • Serve as Surveyor of Record on assigned projects.
  • Review, certify, sign, and seal survey deliverables.
  • Provide professional oversight of boundary, ALTA, route, topographic, easement, utility, control, and construction surveys.
  • Perform boundary analysis and resolve complex title and land ownership issues.
  • Ensure compliance with state surveying laws, board rules, and professional standards.

Technical Leadership
  • Manage technical aspects of multiple survey projects simultaneously.
  • Provide QA/QC review of field data, calculations, plats, legal descriptions, maps, and survey deliverables.
  • Oversee processing and adjustment of GNSS, conventional, LiDAR, and other geospatial data.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining survey procedures, standards, and best practices.
  • Support implementation of emerging survey technologies and workflows.
  • Coordinate survey activities with engineering, environmental, GIS, land, and client teams.

Staff Development
  • Mentor survey technicians, crew chiefs, and emerging professionals.
  • Assist with performance development of survey personnel.
  • Promote a culture of professionalism, accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.

Multi-State Support
  • Maintain professional licensure in current jurisdictions.
  • Actively pursue additional professional licenses in strategic states where EnSiteUSA operates.
  • Support state-specific survey compliance requirements and professional practice standards.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Surveying/Geomatics, Survey Engineering, or closely related surveying discipline.
  • Current Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in at least one U.S. state.
  • Ability to obtain reciprocal licensure in additional states.
  • Strong understanding of boundary law, surveying principles, measurement science, and geospatial technologies.
  • Experience managing survey projects and technical staff.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Multiple active PLS licenses.
  • Experience supporting pipeline, utility, energy, transportation, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with Public Land Survey System (PLSS) surveys.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing legal descriptions, exhibits, and boundary reports.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, GIS software, and other survey-related applications.
  • Knowledge of GNSS, RTK, static GPS, terrestrial scanning, UAS, and LiDAR workflows.
