General Overview of Position:

ARCXIS is seeking an active Florida-licensed Professional Surveyor and Mapper (PLS/PSM) to support a residential surveying practice serving homebuilders throughout Florida. This production-focused position will provide licensed professional oversight for Florida survey work and may be appointed as the qualifying principal officer for the entity holding ARCXIS's Florida surveying business authorization.

The successful candidate will perform and oversee field and office surveying activities, review production work, provide professional supervision, and help ensure that survey deliverables meet applicable technical, legal, and company requirements. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise and sound professional judgment with the practical ability to support daily production, guide field and office staff, and maintain consistent quality.

Primary Responsibilities

• Maintain an active and unrestricted Florida Professional Surveyor and Mapper (PLS/PSM) license in good standing
• Serve as the qualifying principal officer for ARCXIS's Florida surveying business authorization if formally appointed
• Exercise professional supervision and independent judgment over surveying and mapping services performed in Florida
• Perform and oversee residential boundary, construction, topographic, as-built, form-board, foundation, final, and related surveys
• Prepare, review, approve, sign, date, and seal professional survey documents when the work complies with applicable requirements
• Interpret and analyze field data, control, calculations, plats, title information, construction plans, easements, and legal descriptions
• Ensure the accuracy, completeness, traceability, and timely delivery of field data and final survey deliverables
• Require correction of deficient work and decline to sign or seal work that does not meet legal, technical, or professional standards
• Maintain exclusive control of the individual's professional seal, digital signature, and associated credentials
• Ensure compliance with Florida Statutes Chapter 472, Florida Administrative Code Chapter 5J-17, applicable local requirements, and ARCXIS standards
• Provide hands-on field and office production support as workload and project needs require
• Support production schedules and technical deliverables while preserving required professional independence

Additional Duties and Responsibilities Include the Following

• Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to field crews, survey technicians, and drafting personnel
• Review field notes, calculations, survey data, and draft deliverables for quality assurance
• Assist in resolving boundary, control, monumentation, construction, and field-related discrepancies
• Coordinate with ARCXIS drafting and other internal production teams to support accurate and timely completion of assigned work
• Apply established Florida field procedures, drafting standards, review checklists, quality controls, and document-retention practices
• Assist with the technical review and maintenance of standard survey templates and deliverables
• Support the testing, calibration, and proper use of survey equipment, software, coordinate systems, and field-to-office workflows
• Promptly report any complaint, investigation, restriction, suspension, expiration, or other change affecting the individual's professional license
• Maintain knowledge of current industry standards, technologies, and regulatory changes
• Perform other related duties consistent with the position and applicable professional requirements

Professional Authority and Accountability
• ARCXIS retains authority over ownership, budgets, compensation, banking, commercial terms, capital purchases, and general business operations. The Florida PSM retains independent professional judgment over surveying methods, technical supervision, compliance, quality review, and use of the individual's professional seal. Nothing in this job description requires the employee to approve, sign, or seal work that the employee determines does not satisfy applicable legal or professional requirements.

Requirements

Education / Experience / Desired Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted Florida Professional Surveyor and Mapper license required
• Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred
• Minimum 5+ years of progressively responsible surveying experience, including boundary and construction surveying
• Demonstrated experience supervising or substantively reviewing field and office survey production
• Strong working knowledge of Florida surveying laws, standards of practice, boundary principles, legal descriptions, plats, title information, and construction documents
• Experience with residential construction surveying, builder services, or high-volume survey production strongly preferred
• Experience with survey software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson, Trimble, or comparable platforms
• Ability to evaluate field methods, survey calculations, coordinate systems, control networks, equipment suitability, and final deliverables
• Ability to work effectively across field and office production teams
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to explain technical and regulatory matters clearly to project and production teams

Work Environment

• Combination of office and field work
• Exposure to outdoor conditions including varying weather, terrain, and construction sites

Physical Demands

• Ability to stand, walk, and traverse uneven terrain
• Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs
• Ability to operate survey equipment and tools in field environments

Travel

• Local and regional travel as needed
• Occasional travel to other ARCXIS offices, training locations, or company meetings as required

Salary Description

$105,000 - $135,000 per year DOE
